Now, look at the next statement. I’ll put it in bold there. have the principle of redemption and the verses that teach it are verses on eternal security. Just like I taught one class about you know justification. When you understand that once you have been justified you cannot in any way shape or form be unjustified. When God has declared your rightes, all right a day passes. I declare you unrighteous. No I declare your rightes. Now I declare you unrighteous. A week, you’re still unrighteous.
Bible says that when you’re saved, you’re saved from something to something. You know, from hell, because you’re going to get saved, you’ve got to get saved from something. Or if you get saved from something, you’ve got to be saved to something. To an inheritance that’s incorruptible and undefiled, that fate, if not a way reserved, where in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God because of your faith in Christ for your salvation. So you are eternally secure.
God has a reservation already made for you. When the missionaries came here, we already had their rooms reserved. So when they got here, they had a room already for them. We had to pay for it, but I mean they had a room already reserved. Well now God got a reservation from me in heaven. Cancel that reservation for yank. It warned too. Well it’s just though Tom in there also. He was saved yesterday, he was coming but now he ain’t coming now.
He really messed up bad. Aren’t you glad that you don’t have a reservation today and you lose it tomorrow? Reservation and so somebody said where you going to that? Well, I don’t know. Who would? Have you ever seen something where you had a car payment that you’re supposed to make, or let’s say for insurance, and they want to take and say, you missed your payment, and they come and they get your car, or you didn’t pay their insurance premium, and so therefore it coverage has elapsed, and then you go ahead and you make a payment, it’s been reinstated.
I know y’all have never seen that before. I have, I’ve seen a lot of those at times. Because sometimes, I forget about what I’m doing, and little patience. So it is eternal security. That’s what makes the gospel such good news. Now look at the next statement. The curse of the law. What are the laws of Moses and which sacrificial law do we keep? Now get this, this will blow your mind. If you have to keep the law, okay, the law of burn offering, the sin offering, the meat offering, trespass offering, the peace offering, the consecration offering, plague of leprosy offering, which offering must include beast or foul.
So if you want to keep the law and you sin, well, if Christ’s death on the cross is not sufficient for all of your sins and it still requires a blood sacrifice, well, it’s either going to have to be a beast or a foul or you take a pig. How you doing? Aren’t you glad that when Jesus died on the cross, He was sufficient for all of my sins. And this is why Paul is trying to get them to see.
You’re trying to place yourself back on the law. What’s your sacrifice going to be? What’s going to pay for those future sins? And that’s right in chapter two. He talks about if we seek justification, then you’re saying you’re not now justified. If you’re seeking to be righteous means you know not righteous now. But once you trust Christ to save it, you have eternal life. Then look at number two there. There are moral laws like the Ten Commandments and civil like capital punishment, civil laws.
You’ve got ceremonial laws. All these are elements of the mosaic law. And none of it was ever given for salvation. And the majority of the world were never under the Ten Commandments because they were not Jewish. They were given to the nation of Israel what they should and should not do and how they’re opposed to the… but does that mean nobody could get saved? Everybody could get saved the same way by trusting Christ of Savior. There’s no two ways.
But there’s also… there’s natural laws. In other words, a natural law, a natural law, natural law. Why did that fall? There’s a law of gravity. It’s a law of gravity. But it’s a natural law. I didn’t have to create it. And I don’t have to worry about it. But I could, like some people, you know, I could just jump off the Empire State building. What’s going to happen to me? I’m going to fly. Like, you know, I got halfway down.
Hey, so far so good. But you know you’ve got an appointment with a concrete. So the law of gravity, you can’t suspend it. But God who gave the law of gravity, he can suspend the law of gravity. And he was able to walk on water. Try it. So see, there are some laws that are impossible for man to keep. He can’t do all of those things. He can’t just make him a whole bunch of fish sandwiches. We’ll try that for a third Sunday then.
don’t bring anything. We’re gonna have, you know, fish sandwiches this Sunday. What do we need? And Jesse’s gonna wave his hand. And all of a sudden, there it is. You think we ought to trust that? We was gonna have a fish fry one day. So me and couple of, we went fishing. We’re gonna have a fish fry for the church. We never did have that fish fry. The fish forgot to cooperate, and they would not bite the bait. And I kept telling them, I says, as long as you got me in this boat, you’re not gonna catch any fish.
Because somehow or another, the devil always knows when I’m going fishing, and he tells the fish. And they said, don’t bite, you ain’t just a little bait out there for ya. And so it worked somehow like that, I don’t know. but there is the law of so and reaping. Some laws that you won’t find in the 10 commandments, but there’s a lot of law, natural laws. And so even the lost man knows about that he’s going to be judged, he needs to be righteous and he’s not and he doesn’t believe, he doesn’t know, but there’s natural laws.
So sometimes you gotta find out when he talks about those that are under the law, the whole world. So it may not be the whole world under that 10 commandments that they were never given, but there are other laws that man has within him that he knows right from wrong. There is a right from wrong principle. To him that no one to do good and do it that not to him, it is sin. So don’t get into the big debates for somebody over well, which law is and all that.
This God requires righteousness to go to heaven and we’re not and the law condemns us. And that’s all you need to really explain. Look down here at the next statement. Number three, who exactly is under the curse of the law? Verse 10. And what law is Paul referring to? If it’s the mosaic law, does that mean that Gentiles were not under the law and therefore not under a curse? The answer of course is no. So if the mosaic law is Jewish, why would Paul write to the Gentiles as though they had knowledge of the mosaic law?
The Gentiles, they had no clue about the law of Moses. Now the Jewish people would. That’s why in the book of Romans in chapter seven, he says, I write these things to those who know the law. And then he uses a Jewish illustration because the Jews would understand, and most Gentiles would not, but they can understand an illustration. So there’s a illustration about the man or the woman, married, and she’s not free to marry another until that one dies and so on.
So that’s the same thing with the law. You cannot be free from this law unless you pay that laws penalty. So you can pay that debt penalty, then you can go free. But who wants to pay the debt penalty? Not I. Now look down at the bottom here, a little later, A, the law of God is a standard for the righteousness of God, whereby all men are judged and would be included in the natural law. It is universal to all men included and not limited to the Jews.
whether you’re Jew or Gentile, you’re all condemned. And we’re all under the condemnation of God. And you can read that in the book of Romans 3 and verse 19 and 20. This law is a principle that drives all of the laws, natural, eternal, mosaic law. Everybody is a center. Alright. Alright. Alright. Okay. And the wages of sin is death. The law is holy and good and just and spiritual. There’s nothing wrong with the law. Next page, page two. All men are condemned unable to be kept by human effort.
Nobody, regardless of who the person is, whether they were Jews or Gentiles, whatever the law principle was, no men has been able to keep the law. Now, this is explained very clearly in the book of Romans in chapter 2, talking about the conscience that man has. And just by looking at the world, you know that there is a God. And so because you know there is a God, then you’re without excuse because the world that you see is the evidence God exists.
You see, I want some evidence. Well, that’s what you got. You are evidence. Look in the mirror. You are evidence that God exists. has design is a sign of a designer and plan of a planner and the laws of a law giver and so there’s laws in our natural laws. There’s gotta be a God. So God said these are my evidence. It’s like me walking through the snow and I see an out track. That means a bunny rabbit went through there.
No one out went through there. I saw a soundtrack. And so I would follow those tracks, Hovin that I’ll come up on a elk. Is that how simple that is? And if you’ll follow the tracks that God has left, it always leads you to God. And if a man sees God with all his heart, he can come across the truth. And truth leads to truth. Light leads to more light. And people can find the Lord. They call them, I found the Lord.
I like God was lost {*. No, I was lost, but I saw the light.” And so you went to the Lord. Look down into a little note there. The Old Testament uses the term law of God and generally always refers to the Mosaic law. Remember the Old Testament is Jewish and there would be no need to separate the two applications because you’ve got a lot of things that are mentioned in the law of Moses and a lot of pipes and they all referenced toward Jesus Christ, all the sacrifices, the temple, almost everything in the temple has some relationship to God and to Jesus Christ himself, the Messiah.
So the Mosaic Law is the standard for the righteousness of men specifically to Israel. Now why is this important? Because the Jews were trying to put the Gentiles underneath the Jewish Law. They weren’t Jews and Also letting the legalistic Jews, the writers know, look, we were under the law and we couldn’t keep it. 1,500 years they couldn’t keep it. Why are we trying to keep these Gentiles and put them underneath the Jewish law, which we, nor our fathers, were able to keep?
Because it’s inspired of God and I believe in every word, I don’t see how a natural man could have wrote this book. It is so loaded with jewels, every verse, and you never get enough of it. But look down at the next note. The righteousness of God is revealed in the Mosaic law. Though it is the standard for the righteousness of men, it reveals the righteousness of God. By the moral law, which we call the Ten Commandments, and the first four is about God, and the last six is about man.
And the Bible says, the first two great commandments, commandments I shot little of the Lord thy God with all thy heart, mine but his own strength, but that’s the first four. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Oh, that’s the last six. And so those two great commandments is to fulfill what all the law is love. Love God, love one another. And very few people know enough about God to love him or care enough about each other to love them because most people, it says love one another as you love yourself.
Most people don’t love themselves. Because if you really loved yourself, why do you do the things that would wrong yourself or hurt yourself? Why do you purposely put scars upon yourself? Why not take and do the right thing? And why do things that would bring the chasing hand of God upon yourself? But that’s the way we are. Look at the next statement. Let her see there. The law of sin produces death. It is universal to all men, to the believer to the lost.
The law of sin dies. The way sin is death. And people died whether they knew the law or didn’t know the law, the prince most still happened. And that’s in Romans in chapter 5. The law of the sin produces death, but the law of the spirit of life, give it life. The law condemns. The spirit gives life. See life must come from life and exist on previous life. That’s the law of biogenesis. So you have an explanation given in the book of 2 Corinthians in chapter 3 when he talks about the law, killeth, but the spirit does what?
Hm? Makes a life. So if you want to have life, you can’t get it from the law because the law kills. It kills life. It doesn’t produce life. But the Holy Spirit produces life. So when you trusted Christ as your Savior, you were born spiritually by the Holy Spirit. And that’s how you can have a spiritual birth with spiritual life because you got it from the Holy Spirit. Now, y’all follow me and y’all didn’t go to sleep. every once in a while y’all.
All right here we are we’re boogin’ right along here. So letter E verse 13 being made a curse for us. The tree refers to the cross. It is the case of shameful violation of the law. The body was then hung on a tree so that all may sit as the public example of shame. The Jews did not crucify criminals, they stoned them to death. But when you have a person like Jesus Christ, God who created the heavens of the earth, made the very trees, made the nails, he made everything and then came into his world in his own creation nailed unto a cross.
What it means is because of all that shame means he’s like an individual who’s not hung between heaven and earth. He’s not worthy of heaven and he’s not worthy to live on earth. That’s why they get crucified. It’s the worst thing that can happen to an individual rejected by heaven, rejected by man. And yet God was God and God loved man and look what man did to their own Creator. That’s enough to break your heart. Just thinking about that.
And so then he uses an illustration here which you’ve read many times in the book of John in chapter 3 and verse 14, where he talks about, yes, in the Old Testament they had to make a pole, a brass, and then surf on the top so that anybody who got bit by some snakes, they could look and then they would live. But that wasn’t talking about, you know, get saved, that was because they were physically dying and they would not physically die.
But there’s an application there that can be used by a teacher in Israel who knew what that was about, what would be able to explain it like Nicodemus was supposed to and now God, in the person of Jesus Christ, is having to explain Old Testament scriptures to a teacher like Nicodemus. And so this is still talking, I believe, about Nicodemus. Even verse 16, I believe it’s a reference to Nicodemus because he had asked the question, he’s a, how can a man be born when he is old?
Can he enter the second time in his mother’s womb? He’d be born again? Now that’s the way most of us would think. You got to be born again. Oh, okay. He could be born again of his parents a thousand times and the last time wouldn’t be any better than the first time. He has to be born from above without a sinful nature. So your second birth has to be the birth without a sinful nature because if it’s born with a sinful nature, God hasn’t done anything for anybody.
You’re still gonna sin. And if you went to heaven when you’re sinful nature, what are you gonna do in heaven? You’re gonna sin. The location wouldn’t change anything. That’s why God had to give you a new birth born of God without a sinful nature. And you say, well, what happens when I sin? Well, that’s the first birth. That’s the flesh birth. And you got two of them. So now look in verse 14 there. The blessing of Abraham is the righteousness of God being given to those that believe.
I mean, just by faith alone. And that’s why he’s referring to just like Abraham was. So Paul is letting him know you were saved the same way Abraham was. Abraham was saved by faith and that was 430 years before the law. Now later on in the third chapter you will see where did that annul, when he gave the law, did it annul the promise that he had already given Abraham. Abraham I’m going to justify the heathen by faith. 430 years later he gives the law.
Now did given of the law annul the promise that he made? No it did not. And the reason he gave the law was so that people could see they can’t say themselves by their works. And so the law was to lead a man to Christ that he could be justified by faith. And that’s why you have it in verse 24 is so important. Verse 24 verse 26 and verse 28 in chapter 3. We’ll look at those at another time.
Now look at the next statement, note, this does not mean that those who lived before Abraham were saved differently or that righteousness by faith was only after Abraham. Remember the audience that Paul is addressing are those that had been corrupted by the misrepresentation of the law by the Judaizers. So Paul is showing the Galatian believers that they were saved the same way Abraham was saved. Abraham was not saved by the law, and he is the Father. If you heard Father Abraham, you ought to see better do that song.
I can’t even remember the words, let alone do the actions. You ever tried to do all the actions to it? That’ll work you pretty good. But anyway, I’m glad we don’t have to do that tonight. Well, we could have, you know, Bob Gilbert come up here and demonstrate it. He might get down, but he ain’t gonna get up. Ha ha ha. Heavy. Look at number two, this is really good. And the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles and the verse that I like here is in the book of Luke in chapter two, and when he says, I bring you good tidings of great joy.
it would not be great joy to be, well, I gotta keep the law to go to heaven. Which law? How many of them? And if I fail, what do I do? What do I do if I mess up? How do I get forgiveness for that? I gotta have a payment for that. The sin cannot be forgiven unless it’s been paid. The re-gut can forgive us of our sins because our sins have been paid. And so just asking God to forgive you for future sins, when he hadn’t paid for them, it’s impossible.
That’s why he said because of the payment Christ made, he says, go into all the world and preach the gospel. And he says in the book of Acts in chapter 10 verse 43, he talks about the Old Testament prophets, priests, the forgiveness of sins, priests, the forgiveness of sins. And that’s what we’re supposed to be doing because of the payment Christ made. And you’ll notice the last part of that verse which shall be to only the Jews. All men.
So all men can be saved if all men would trust Christ as Savior. And so the number three, the promise of the Spirit through faith. This question is asked several times in the third chapter. Did you receive the Spirit by the law or by the hearing of faith? has to be bothered here in the faith. You heard, you believed, and the Holy Spirit saved you. The Spirit can give you life. Now, the law can’t give life. For if there had been a law given which could have given life, very righteousness should have been by the law.
And I believe that’s verse 19 of chapter 3. So the last verse on here, Paul asked the Galatians in verse 3 to, How did you receive the Spirit? It was by faith and not by the law. So no man has ever been saved by keeping the law. So why do you want to put people under the law? Well we don’t. I’ve had people say, well, Yakey just wants everybody to live in sin because you believe that you’re just saved by grace and you just go living sin.
Well, when do I start? I’ve been saved for 58 years. You say, you mean you don’t send anymore? Which birthday are you talking about? My second birth, no, it doesn’t do us sin at all. This one hasn’t sinned in 58 years. This over here, I don’t need to talk about it. And just like you, but God is good to us. Should we serve the Lord? Yeah, we should look how good God’s been to us. After all that He’s done for us and given us eternal life and never cast a lot and never lose it, man, we ought to be so thankful that Lord wants, we all want everybody to hear this.
And so therefore we want to honor the Lord. Look up here. This 10 represent you and me. The wall of represents all the bad things that y’all have done, that we have done. God loves us. And I hate what he said, but he loves us. You know, whenever the Bible says he, that believeth on me, had their everlasting life. All men, I don’t know what the women are going to do. Okay. I think it includes them too, because they’re in the world.
God’s the love of the world. Okay, so there was a salvation made for the women. God loves us, He hates our sin, and to pay for sin is the eternal separation from God and now. But God loves us and wants us to go to heaven. To go to heaven we have to be perfect, no sin, perfect. Well, in my flesh I’ll never be perfect till I can’t live above sin. So God’s going to give me a new birth that doesn’t haveFOX nature, and it’s my new birth that gets to go to heaven because in heaven there is no sin.
Not even a lie. Nothing wrong in heaven. Not to be with the Lord. So the Bible says we cannot save ourselves. We need a Savior. This is Jesus Christ. He’s God in the flesh, He had no sin. So Jesus Christ came into the world and He took everything we owed, all of our sins, and He’s going to make a payment. The only payment that’s acceptable is His death. He has to die. He’s a sin. So Christ died. Now if He didn’t die for all of my sins, then He didn’t do me any favors.
I mean, what’s the difference of paying for my sins up to the time I believe, but the very next moment I said that I wasn’t covered. That’s like having an insurance policy. And you know today they want you to pay the premium but they don’t want to cover anything. But I’ve seen that done. Like we want to get kids to camp and we got to have coverage for this and that and the other but they don’t want them to be involved in anything where they can get hurt.
But they got high rates but the kids can’t do this, they can’t do that. I mean, you can’t play ball. No. But I’m glad I got total coverage. Christ paid for it, came back from the dead and said, if I would believe He did it for me, He puts this payment to my account, I have a payment for how many of my sins? All of them. And He says, He’ll never cast me out and never lose me. Why? He can’t.
Why? I don’t have any sense to pay for it. And in the future, I cannot be condemned. Why? I’m free from the law. The law can’t condemn me. That just makes so much sense when you’re really catch up when you really see it. Let’s pray, show him. Every head bowed and every eye closed, no one looking around. And if you’re watching by internet, understand that God does love you. And he sent his son to die for you. And the only thing you have to do to go to heaven is believe he did it for you.
And he’ll put that payment he made to your account and you can know that you’re going to heaven whenever you die. And if you’re in the auditorium and you’ve never trusted Christ of Savior, even if you’ve heard it a thousand times, have you really trusted the Lord? Because that’s the only way you can go to heaven. And if you’ve never done so, would you do it right now? I’m not gonna embarrass you, but I’m gonna ask in just a moment if you’ll just slip your hand a very quickly and say, yes, I will trust Christ as my Savior and preach I’d like you to pray for me.
Is there anyone at all before we close that say, yes, I will trust Christ as my Savior? Would you slip your hand a very quickly and put a right back down? We’ve never done it before, but you’ll do it now. Our Father, we thank again for your blessings. Thank you for your word that you’ve given us. We pray we’ll be found faithful, studying it, believing it, sharing it. And Father, we also pray for Rance tomorrow night that you’ll give them a good number and from people to trust your Savior, for Christian to be challenged and trained.
