How can you recognize a person by their fruit? Well, you see, everybody who has bad fruit has a bad root. If you’ve got bad fruit, then he’s not a good tree. You see what it says in verse 19? It says, every tree that bring not forth good fruit is you down and cast into the fire. Well verse 18, good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can the corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. You’re either a good tree or a bad tree.

There is no in betweens. They’re different. They’re not the same. There is a good tree and there’s a bad tree. Well lo and behold, everyone born into this world came with a sinful nature. So we have a bad root. We have bad fruit. And we’re all bad trees. So we cannot save ourselves and you can know them by their fruit. Any person who sends got a sinful nature and that’s a bad tree. That’s everybody in this room. That’s everybody in the world.

There’s only one person who was ever born to this world that was a good tree because he came from a good root, he had good fruit. Therefore he didn’t have to die. But the bad tree is cut down. The good tree is not cut down. Christ did not have to die. So he took all the sins of all the world, all the fruit that we’ve done. And he paid for everything on the cross. And so when you get up here to the next verse, you’ll notice that there’s two wills.

There’s the will of man. And And verse 21, not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. But he that dwilt the will of my father, but didn’t says, many will say to me, Lord, have we not? They did what they did, but they didn’t do what God says do. The only thing they didn’t mention here was they were trusting Christ as their savior. Why did they think they should go into heaven? Look what I did.

Let’s just pretend for a moment, I’m God. I like it so far. I’m God, and this is the purlage and you want to get in. And I asked you, this is my heaven. Now why should I let you into my heaven? And you would say, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? Thy name cast out devils and thy name done many wonderful works. We’ve done all of that. And I say, I never knew you. Depart from me, you cursed.

See, well why? Well, because see, what were they depending upon to get in men? Their wonderful works. Look what we have done. Oh, here comes a sinner. Here comes a Yankee Armiliner. Okay, and there’s God up here. And God says, now why should I let you into my heaven? And I says, because Jesus Christ died on the cross and paid for all my sins. and I believe it and you promised. I got him. See he can get out of that because it depends upon what Christ did and the promise God made.

If I trusted Christ as my Savior, he said he’d give me eternal life as a free gift. The only reason I’m going to heaven because Christ paid for my sin is not because I’m a preacher, it’s not because I go to church, it’s not because I give money. Eternal life is a gift of God and I accepted that gift years ago and that gift of eternal life How long would the gift of eternal life last? Forever. So that’s how I know I’m going to see.

They never said that. But he told me, he says, you have to do the will of the Father. What’s the will of the Father? Believe on Jesus Christ. They said, look, we cast out devils and we spoke in tongues and we went to church with the deacon and I was an elder and I gave money and I lived a good life. God said, that doesn’t count. And that’s why he says in verse 23, then when I profess unto them, I never knew you.

Well, I used to know you, but I don’t know you anymore. No, he said never knew you. You never saved. You’re not saved by trusting in your good works to get you to heaven. It will not work. Now look at the next scripture here. In Matthew chapter 7 or 24, there’s several things that are mentioned here. And verse 24, he says these sayings of mine. Do you hear what I’m saying? He that has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches.

Here he talks about he that has ears to hear. Do you understand what I’m saying? Now, who is talking about? This is God in the flesh. Jesus Christ, God himself, he’s talking. He says, do you understand what I’m saying? So he says there in verse 24, therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, in other words, everything we just read. If you understand that, then you ought not be caught believing a false message. You ought to believe the truth. You’re saved by grace.

You’re not saved by your works. Can you discern? There’s a judgment call here. So he says there in verse 24, therefore, who’s so over here at these Saints of Mine and do it them? I will liken him unto a wise man who build his house upon a rock. There’s three things there. The sayings, what he said, being a wise man and building upon a rock. In other words, the rock will not move and you’ll be a wise man. So that’s why the man who led me to Christ, God told him he that when it sold his wives, he was wise because he led me to Christ.

And I want to be wise because I want to lead other people to Christ. If you want to be wisely, you know the people of the Lord. He that, when his souls is wise. Now, either you are or you’re not. Have you ever let anybody in Christ? Have you ever got somebody to put their trust in the Lord? And they have that solid security. They’re on the rock. See, the rock is Christ. So now that I’m on Christ, I’m supposed to build my house upon a rock, upon the teaching found in the Word of God.

And God said, if I will build my life, me, You see, what you do in life and what you produce in life or your ministries in life, all of those are by products of whatever you are. You see, God says, building up yourselves in your most holy faith and then whatever you are, you reproduce. You’ll reproduce whatever you are. And so God says, I want you to be built upon my word and when the storms of life come and they will and the the range are going to fall, the winds are going to blow, and you’d be surprised how many people’s lives are smashed.

They just had a hurricane hit up here in North Carolina. And some people got out, some people didn’t. Some, the floods came. Some houses are fell. The winds did blow. But there’ll be some that were probably built up on a rock, a better foundation and then it’ll stand. God said, this is the way it is with your life. You as an individual, are you solid as a rock and you’re not swayed by every wind of doctrine that comes along?

Are you steadfast? That’s what God wants. And now notice what He says here in verse 25, and the rains descended, the floods came, the winds blew. You see, whether you’re saved or whether you’re lost, you have the same problems in life. You still get hungry. Well, I’m a Christian, I’m getting hungry more. Well, now that I’m a Christian, I don’t have to go to work. I don’t have to have you in the church because I’m just trusting the Lord.

How’s that working for you? And you’d be surprised that just because, and I told you with this, when you got up this morning, you looked in the mirror and you were ugly. You came to church, you trusted Christ as a savior, you go back home and look in the mirror, you’re still ugly. You see that didn’t change, cause that’s different. He gave you a spiritual birth. didn’t change the physical birth. Now if God’s going to change me physically, I would expect to look differently, but He never touched my body.

And one of these days it’s going to keep on until it deteriorates and then I can’t live in more and I’m going to have to move out. But look what He said in verse 20, everyone that hear these sayings of mine and do it them not. You hear it but you don’t make the right decision. You make the wrong choices. It’s like I heard it but in one ear, out the other ear and you go ahead and live your life any way you want to do it anyway.

Okay, but you’re going to fall apart sooner or later. The pressures of life. And God says, unless you serve the Lord with joyfulness of heart, I will put a yoke of iron upon your neck until it destroys you. And that yoke of iron is all the pressures of life weighing down upon you and saying, I can’t hell it. Well, of course you can’t hell it. You could have, but you didn’t do it. Cast all your cares upon him for he care for you.

It’s because you’re trying to bury everything. Learn to trust the Lord. how to walk with God. But you’ll be wise if you do, but if you don’t, you’re building on a house of sand, it’s on sand. And it shakes and it moves, it’s not firm. And you wouldn’t know why you’re having all your emotional problems. You asked for it. You got to stabilize the mind. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and of a sound mind.

It comes from a sound word, sound doctrine, knowing what God says to you. And then the things that happens to you and life, you don’t have to fall apart just because the world’s falling apart. But, like he says to his disciples, do you understand what I’m saying? Do you hear what I’m saying? Do you understand? Now take your Bible and turn to the book of Matthew 9. Matthew 9 and look in verse 12. I have come to appreciate this a little bit more of the older I get.

There was a time when I didn’t think I needed, I don’t even know doctors. I never had health insurance, I didn’t have to worry about that because I’m the self-insular horse. And after a while, horse got horse and everything begins to fall apart and the only you get most of you know what I’m talking about the body gets worn down it has aches and problems all those things happen but look what he says in verse 12 but when Jesus heard that he said unto them they that behold need not a physician but they that are sick in other words there’s a those self-righteous Pharisees and there’s those down and out sinners.

We see those down and out sinners, they know what they are. Those Pharisees feel with pride and they just don’t see themselves the way they really are. Hypotritical. They think they’re okay because look how good I am, look how righteous I’m living and they look down their long, fair, cynical nose at others and you know they think they’re like Kellogg’s cornflakes just a little bit better. No, there’s people that are sick and there’s people that are whole. I was 18 years old.

I was sick. Oh, not physically. But the Bible describes my sickness in the book of Isaiah chapter 1, and you ought to read chapter 1 one of these days. And he says, from the soul of your foot to the top of your head, you’re sick. There’s nothing sound in you. He’s talking to the nation of Israel as though they were a person. In other words, there’s nothing good about you. There’s nothing righteous about you. You’re sinful, you’re wicked, you have gone your own way, and in the book of Isaiah 53, he describes all we like sheep have gone astray.

We have turned everyone to his own way. The Lord have laid upon him the iniquity of us all. But God sees the lost man as a sick man. He separated from God. When I trusted Christ as my Savior that very day, that very moment in God’s eyes I was made whole. I was healed. I was given a new birth born of God and this new birth that’s born of God is a spiritual birth that I cannot even see. God never touched my physical birth, didn’t touch my physical body, but he gave me a new birth born of God.

And if born of God, then God’s the Father. And my new birth, born of God, doesn’t have a sinful nature. If it has no sin for nature, it cannot sin. If it cannot sin, it cannot die. How long will I be a child of God? Forever. I am whole. Now I just haven’t picked up my new body yet. See, God doesn’t want this body. He’s going to give me another body. And if he comes before I get rid of this one, he’s going to change this one to be like the new one that he wanted to give me.

So I’m just looking forward, but I’ve finally been made whole. If you have never trusted Christ as your Savior, you’re not complete. You’re missing so much. There’s another world that you’re not able to understand. And things that are different are not the same. If you’ve never trusted Christ as your Savior, it means you’re not a Christian. If you’re not a Christian, you’re different. You’re a lost person going to hell. But to know that you have eternal life, know that you’re going to heaven when you die is one of the greatest joys in all the world.

And that you can know. Look to the next verse, look at verse 13. But go ye and learn what that means. In other words, if it was just a matter of being sick and having a physician, you can understand that. But there’s a spiritual meaning behind it. It means more than what it says. Look what he said in verse 13. But go ye and learn what that means. And I will have mercy, not sacrifice. For I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.

There are some people who think they are so righteous. They don’t need to get right with God. I’m a religious person. I go to church. I live a good life. I don’t hurt nobody. I’m kind to my neighbors. And they think they’re good to go. And therefore they will not trust Christ of Savior. Oh, do they need the Lord? Yes. Oh, they hold no, but they think they are. They don’t need anything. But the Bible says, when Christ came into the world, He came to the world.

came to save sinners. Who is a sinner? Everybody’s a sinner. But there’s some people who don’t think they are that bad. I’ve never killed anybody. I want to rob the bank, so they’re all not that bad. How bad do you have to be? If you’re not perfect, you’re a center. Hello. We’re all in the same boat. Now, take your Bible and look in chapter 13. Matthew chapter 13. Matthew chapter 13 and look at verse 24. This is a parable that he gave, but there’s something here that’s very important because it talks about this simple little thing called, uh, wheat in the tears.

Now you know wheat is what you eat, the tears is what you throw away. It’s a chaff, it’s no good. But in verse 24, another parable putty forth unto them, saying, the kingdom of heaven is lacking to a man which sow good seed in his field. And while men slept, his enemies came and sowed tears among the wheat and went his way. When the blade was sprung up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tears also. So the servant of the house came and said in him, this does not so good seed in thy field, from whence then hath it tears.

He said to them, and any of them have done this, the servant said to him, we’ll tell that we go and gather them up. So here we are, and I can relate this to the time in which we live. I believe it’s talking to another period of time, but the application is still the same. You see, here we are. We have people who are born to this world, and we’re all born with a sinful nature. So we’re to go into all the world and sow new seed because this new seed will give people a new birth and there’s people that will trust Christ as Savior.

And so here we are, we can have a church here and have some wheat and some tears. We’ve got people that may know Christ as Savior and we have some people that may not know Christ as Savior. And it says that it’s hard to tell the difference. If we can look at each other, can you just look at everybody in this room and says, okay, that one saved. No, he’s lost, I can never look at him, he’s lost. Now that one saved, that was lost, I can’t tell that.

I can’t just look at you and say, well, I know he’s the Christian, look at that halo. Yeah, but tomorrow it might be a noose. And you can’t tell. So what do you do? How do I go through and pick out all the righteous ones and leave all the lost ones? Well, see, God in heaven, he knows all of his children. And he’s one of the days, he says, just wait till the end, he said, I’ll take care of all of that.

And he can take his children right out of here and leave the rest. And he’s gonna do that one of these days. It’s called the Rapture of the Church. When Christ comes and he’s gonna catch us out of this world. Now that’s gonna happen, but until then, see, lawyering at the same time. And there’s sweet and tears all growing together. But one day it’s gonna be over. And this is what he says he’s gonna do. See there in verse 29, he said, Nate, less while you gather up the tears, you root up also the wheat with them.

Let both grow together until the harvest. And in the time of harvest, I will say to the reapers, gather ye together first the tears, bind them in bundles to burn, but gather the wheat into my barns. Wheat tears, different. One’s gonna be gathered into the barn, the other ones are gonna be burned. Things that are different, they’re not the same. It’s not gonna be the same consequences to everybody. See, I’ve already made sure. My mother didn’t raise no dummy.

When I saw that eternal life was a free gift, I’d be a fool to turn that down. You know, some people are kind of like I was for a while. You see, I was so dumb. I was such an idiot. I actually thought I could earn my way to heaven. Can you believe that? Boy, am I glad you’re not like that. Verse 30, let both go together until the harvest. And in the time of harvest, I will say to the reapers, gather ye together first the tears, bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barns.

So there is a difference, and there’s different consequences at the end. Now, the question is, do you understand this? Can you make a logical decision based upon what God has said, what He’s revealed. Can you read between the lines even if you had to? Or you can take it face value, just what He said. But one more before we quit on this, look in verse 47, Matthew chapter 13 verse 47. Here is talking about good fish and bad fish.

Now remember this, the good fish and the bad fish is not because they were good fish, but they did something bad, now they’re bad. Those are bad fish because they didn’t live right. They didn’t swim right. They swim where they weren’t supposed to swim. That’s why they’re bad. No, see, you are because of your birth. It’s what you are. You were born into this world as a bad fish. When you trusted Christ and Savior, your new birth, good fish.

Bad tree, good tree, two different roots. My first birth was a sinful nature. I got from my mom and dad. You see, where did they get? get theirs from your mom and dad. No, all the way down to Adam and Eve. So when I trusted Christ in my Savior, came from a good tree, good root, good fruit. That’s my new birth. My new birth is ready to go. I’m going to heaven when I die. Look in verse 47, again, the kingdom of heaven is likened unto a net that was cast into the sea and gathered of every kind, which when it was full, they drew to the shore and set down gathered the good into the vessel, you know, and cast the bad away.

Now, as we look at this, it’s like here’s the world and a big old net and those that are the good fish are those who believe on Jesus Christ and those that are bad are those who will not believe on Jesus Christ. So how you know that from other scriptures that enlightens and lets us know. So God is going to reap at the end of time and all those that are saved will get to go to the kingdom of heaven and he’s talking here about the kingdom of heaven.

The thousand year reign upon the earth. And those that were not believers, then they don’t go. And they’re different and things that are different are not the same. It’s not the same results. I may look like every other man in the whole world. But if they’ve not trusted Christ as Savior, I’m different. You say, you sure are. But I’m different. You can’t see my new birth, but God sees it, and I know I got it, and I’m going to heaven.

Not because of how I live, but because I was born into God’s family. Now look at this verse. So he says here in verse 49, so shall it be at the end of the world, the angels shall come forth and sever the wicked from among the just. Is there a difference? Well, we’re talking about people, yes, we are. Well, we’re using fish as an illustration, yes, we are. We eating the tears is about people, but it’s an illustration. But there’s consequences to this illustration.

Look what he says in verse 50, “‘And shall cast them into the furnace of fire, “‘several the wicked from among the just “‘and cast them into the, and there shall be weeping “‘and wailing and nationalities.'” That’s what happens to those that are lost. Those that are saved, that doesn’t happen to. Those that are lost, but now what determines between a person who saved and a person who’s lost? Did you or did you not accept Jesus Christ as your savior?

You said, well, I don’t think I need him. I’m good enough. Okay, you’re one that’s gonna be cast into the lake of fire. Just so you understand, I can’t make anybody believe the truth. And I don’t know how to explain it any better than what I’m doing. but I would hate to think a person sit here and they listen to everything that I said. They heard it. They heard the illustrations and still walk out them doors as lost as when you walked in them.

Wouldn’t that be a shame? And you got that on your conscience for all eternity as you burn in hell, knowing that it didn’t have to be that way. And you didn’t have to be there because somebody paid your way and you could have been free. You didn’t have to be in hell. And it’ll be too late. And I look at the next verse where he says in verse 51, Jesus said of them, have you understood all these things? Look at me.

Do you understand all these things? Can you discern what I’m saying? So he says here in verse 52, then said he unto them, therefore every scribe which is instructed into the kingdom of heaven is likened to a man that is the household which bringeth forth out of his treasures things new and all. New truth, old truth. We have an Old Testament, we got a New Testament. Truth added to truth. Progressive revelation where God reveals more and more and as you read the Word of God it’s to help us to understand.

So the last question I have down here is do you understand the conclusion? Are there people going to be with the Lord? Are there going to be people separated from the Lord for all eternity. Yes. And remember, they’re not going to hell because well they were bad. No, it’s because they rejected what Christ did for them. It’s because Christ did make a way for everybody and all they have to do is believe that what he did, he did it for them.

And he said he’ll never cast you out and never lose you. That’s how you can know that you’re going to have a note. Let me show you a note of the illustration. It’s very important. This is you and me. This is sin. We all have sin on us. God loves us. He loves you. He loves me. He loves the whole world. But we see we all came from a bad root. That’s why we produce bad fruit. This is our sins.

And everybody sins because we are sinners. And because of sinners, we’re all going to be cut down. We’re all going to die and be eternally separated from God in hell. But God loves us, wants us to go to heaven. But to go to heaven, I got to get rid of my sins. And how can I be good enough to go to heaven? By my works, never. So how can I get out of this? There’s nothing I can do. This end represents Jesus Christ.

He’s the Lord God in the flesh. He came into the world because he loves us. Now he hates our sin, but he loves us. And you see, our sins separates us from the Lord. So Jesus tries to, you hadn’t noticed him, but he didn’t have to die. So he’s a good tree. He came from a good fruit. He didn’t have a sinful nature. He didn’t do anything wrong. He was perfect, the good tree. But he says, whoever would eat the fruit off of this tree, let’s say he’s the apple tree.

If I eat the apple off of this tree, I will have eternal life and live forever. Remember how they messed up in the beginning, they ate the fruit off the tree? Well, here’s that good tree again. And Jesus says that he came back from the dead. He paid for our sins, came back from the dead. And he says, who soever would believe him that he paid for our sins, he would put the payment to their account, and they’d go to heaven on what Christ did.

See, I’m going to heaven, but it’s not because of any good thing I’ve done. It’s because of what he did for me. And all I had to do was believe it. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. The who so ever, anybody who so ever be leaving. If you believe, will not perish means I will not go to hell. Have everlasting light means I get to go to heaven when I die.

Now isn’t that good news? Do you understand what I’ve said? Cause one day, if you haven’t trusted Christ as Savior, you will remember this moment. Let’s pray, show Him. Every head, I’m never gonna close, no one looking around. I’m not gonna have you forward, not gonna embarrass you, but I want you right where you’re sitting. If you have never trusted Christ as your savior, I want you to do so. I can’t make you. I just know it made sense to me.

It was free, no tricks to it, no gimmicks. I didn’t have to promise God anything or stop anything. All I had to do was receive what He did for me. And if you’re watching by internet, right there on the screen and says, yes, I’ll trust Christ as my savior. Well, you’re in the auditorium and you don’t have an internet sitting in front of you and you can’t just punch the screen. So I’m going to ask you if you’re doing me a favor.

I want to ask you in just a moment to raise your hand. Raising your hand does not save you. It just lets me know that what I said made sense to you. You say, preach it, that made sense to me. And I’m going to trust Christ as my Savior this morning. And I like for you to know. I like for you to pray for me. So with heads by nice clothes, anyone at all before we close the yes preacher that made sense to me, I will trust Christ right now as my Savior and I like for you to pray for me.

Would you just slip your hand over quickly? Put her right back down. Anyone at all? And we’re not. If you have not trusted Christ, remember, you will remember this moment. You’ll remember this day when you could have. Our Father, we thank You so much for all You’ve done for us. Thank You for this time together. We ask Your blessings upon the food that has been prepared. In Christ’s name, Amen. Are you ready to learn how to live your life as a strong Christian?
