There’s a lot of things you can say and a lot of things As you can say in a lot of things, you don’t understand how God works. But we know He always works for the best, for the good. Anything good is going to be working for God. Anything else is for the devil. I would never have thought that after 35 years you and I would be working together just like we did back in North Carolina. It’s got to be a miracle.
got to be. And we believe in miracles. Because it seemed like when I came in a few months back, we just picked up where we left off. But we’re better now. Yeah, we’re older. Better looking to. Well, I don’t know about you. But this church, every one of y’all, been such a blessing to me and it’s just so easy to sit and play behind a man like Jesse. It is so easy to sit behind somebody that loves the Lord and knows.
He doesn’t come across as well. Well, I know the book. He knows the man who wrote the book. That’s like you. You just don’t know the book. You can recite scripture after scripture after scripture. But you don’t just know the book. You know the man who wrote the book. And that’s what we all need to know, is to know that man who wrote the book. We can read books all day long, but nothing that we read is going to be like the book that God gave us.
And I would honestly personally like to sincerely say, thank you Lord for causing what you had happened to me this past January and for a little lady named Trina, who was my dismissal nurse. He gave me a track in the hospital. And I looked at it and turned it over. And it said Ralph Yankee Army, Calvary Community Church. And I asked her, was that who I thought it was? And she said no, I didn’t know why the jaw was going to play with him.
But she said yeah, you need to come and visit. I came and visited and here I am. And it’s because of God’s miracle, God’s work. And that’s what we’ve got to do, be able to say, okay, God, you’re using me, where do you want me to go? And go. That’s just it. If you say you’re going to go, you go. You don’t sit on a seat and say, okay, use me. But I don’t want to go over there. I don’t want to go there.
I’m going to go here. That’s not the way God works. He gives you the desires of your heart. I mean, I know I’ve had a lot of things in my short years here, 71 and 1 half years. But nothing has compared to this past year, George. And thank you so much for knowing the man, just like Jesse. That’s a good way to put it. Thank you so much. and the… Wrote the book, Known the Man Who Wrote the Book.
Thank you, Larry. Appreciate it. I just want to say I haven’t I’ve only been here a couple months, but I have never been so happy learning more about the Lord than I have since I’ve been here. I have learned more here in two months than I did when I was going to Bible school, a different school. And I’ve never been to a church that’s been so loving, caring, and friendly. And, uh, I just love it here and it’s a fantastic church.
Thank you so much. Appreciate that. By the way, if you’re enjoying the church next Sunday. Some of these people, when they come, they want to come back. I don’t know if we’re supposed to be encouraging you and I don’t know if this will or not, but this church really is blessed. For you to be gone like you have shows us that this church is full, full to the brim of young men that are educated, God-fearing, and loves the Lord.
And they have kept your church on track. I don’t care how long you’re gone, and we do miss you, but we are blessed. Thank you. We do have some great people that can fill in and speak. Someone else? Just hold your hand up. Yes, my name is L and I’m 90 years old plus and I just want to say that My favorite blessing is my wife who is submitting to my caregiving Presently she’s having some difficulties and sometimes when you have to be the task masker is difficult I want to thank the pastor for being a good friend From time to time he’s called me into his office and we’ve talked about a few things And he’s been agreeable to some projects that I have and things have worked out very well.
My Sunday school teacher Bob Gilbert, I love the guy. It’s not the book, the chapter, the verse, it’s the word man, it’s the word. And his wife, great couple, great mentors. And of course, Betty, the past his wife, friendly, kind, caring. She’s a blessing. And a person I call Mr. Wiggles. That’s Warren. And Becky, violinist, fine, fine musician. And Jim, God bless Jim, I’m a guitarist in spite of his fingers and so forth and so on, I’m sure he’s having some difficulties.
Very fine church. Very happy. I decided to become someone who believes at the age of 76. Long, long time. Thanks very much people. Anyone else? All is giving that to Louie. I will say this. In spite of all that my wife has gone through this year, I don’t think I know another woman quite like her. And even though we’ve been married almost, well, June will be 59 years. But even this like this afternoon, she was visiting three neighbors this afternoon.
And I think it’s so neat that she’s either going to be doing that or she’s calling somebody on the phone. And she’s talking to people sometime around the country. I can be driving and she’ll start on the phone. It’s her good time to talk to anybody and everywhere. And they’re just so blessed that they know her and that she cares about them. And I’m glad that I’ve got a wife like her because without a wife like her, I could not do the ministry that I have.
And I thank the Lord for my wife. And I do want to encourage her because she’s had some trying times just last year. and y’all don’t know, you don’t know the whole story on everything that she’s been through, but it’s been a lot. Louis, go ahead. I’d like to thank the pastor and his wife for all they’ve done. I had a really hard year, lost my mom, and they helped a lot in that area. And all the people here, all the support as a church for all the different ministries that are going on.
Mr. Al has a faithfulness helping with the Junior Church and helping with Friday night witnessing and stuff like that. And the ones I take out on witnessing like Connor and faithfulness and witnessing and seeing Tom, his faithfulness and prayer is encouraging when he calls. I don’t know, 50 people a day or whatever, and he memorizes all those phone numbers. I guess that’s pretty hard. I don’t have 50 phone numbers in my head, but his faithless and giving tracks out to people, that’s always encouraging.
Mr. Gilbert, teaching Sunday School, thank you for that. Jesse’s work with all the internet and all the technology here and all the music and the deacons the other work that goes behind the scenes is a lot of it that we don’t all see. But thank you for all those people that do all those different things and it’s been a blessing to see all that. You’re bad. Thank you so much, Louis. Yeah, Tom, it’s Bob. Microphone’s going to bite you there.
Well, Pastor, I’d like to thank you for how much as a person, blind person, you’ve encouraged me a lot in the word. And I think you do such a great job with the hearing problem you have and Betty as of your wife and how you care so much about your congregation. And I praise you, praise the Lord for you and I praise you, give you strength and I pray your surgery goes well in January. Yeah, I’m thankful that we mentioned Connor back there going on Friday night, soul winter.
I think that’s one of the greatest things you can ever do. But if it wasn’t for him doing that, a lot of these kids would never go and they would never learn how to be good soul winners. You know, do it cold turkey. And John John, he asked to call me up when he gets a bunch of them to trust the Lord. He had five trusts the Lord one day and he had to call me up just to tell me because that day I had told him I had gotten five to trust the Lord.
And that was at one place and anyway, it’s exciting when they get challenged to do what you’re doing. And then you want to call you up and tell you, guess how many, guess how many, guess how many. And I get excited for them. Because I know that it cannot be undone. Once it’s done, you can’t undo it. And that’s the greatest thing in the world. Yes, Bob.
When I came to Florida Bible College, as we started here five, six years ago, I came because I wanted to teach. And along the way, a couple other things became my responsibility. And I want to share with you about how you only need like three things to have a Bible college. You need to have students, you need to have teachers, and you need to have money. And those three things became my extra responsibility. But I don’t have to do that.
God does it. That’s right. Some of you in here are the students. Some of the students have come and gone. But you’ve been the answer to the prayers of many to be students at Florida Bible College here in Tampa. And the teachers are in here, some of them, some of them are on vacation, but God’s provided them, some of them just sacrificially giving of themselves. And the money stuff, I’m not used to this having to pay bills and not having any income that you can get it from, but God and God through many of the people in this room and and some that only see us over the internet, keeps on paying the bills.
We’ve never borrowed. We’ve never been in anything but the black as they say in the bookkeeping. Some of you were here for the graduation and saw me, got to hear me make that announcement about none of the students finish last semester owing us any money. That was the first time I’ve been able to say that, but it’s because of God. The students that come here can watch us live by faith. they can see it happening. Praise the Lord for anybody else.
Betty? I have to think this special lady to me she’s special because she’s helped me a lot and she helps around here all the time. But no one knows anything about her because about what she does. But she helps with the men’s breakfast when we have them. She helps with the teas every time we do them. If there’s anything around here that needs to be done, she shows up and that’s Carolyn Bernstein. She’s helped me all week, all year, with anything need to be done with Greg in the office.
She was always here to help and she’s a very faithful lady and she has her problems at home also with her husband. But today she said that he’s maybe getting a little better and she’s got to, she can see the end of the tunnel now and she’s feeling a little more encouraged about things. So I’m just love her and I’m thankful for her. I agree with that. Somebody else just raise your hand if you want. Just give her the testimony.
I’m gonna choose people. I was kidding. I want to thank Miss Betty and Miss Cindy. Very close. There you go. Can’t hear you. Got to hear you. There’s only a million people listening. Go ahead. Don’t be intimidated. Remember you did it on the radio broadcast and you did an excellent job. I thought she was just gonna have a cardiac arrest when she went to the radio station. Well, no, I want to thank Miss Betty and Miss Cindy because if it wasn’t for meeting those ladies, my life would have been still the same.
It’s different now and I’m happier. This church and everyone in it, it’s just different and it’s great. I recommend it to everyone. And I enjoy your classes too, Pastor, some of them. I can’t hear you. I didn’t know you were a while since you saw me. I didn’t know it too far. I didn’t know it too far. I have both of those ladies in my class and they last the whole time. It’s hard for me to teach Emilio anything.
I’m grateful to God. I hope that you understand me because I’m more Spanish than America. and America, but I’m very grateful to know Mr. Arnold because he communicated to me integrity. Even though he’s talking about the plain gospel, his life of integrity demonstrates to me that it’s beautiful to serve Jesus. That it is. Thank you. You bet. I wish we could videotape our class and just so you can see what pressure those two women put on me. The guys are never like these two women are.
But what’s neat is Stephanie, trusted Lord in the office, I believe, one day. At the restaurant, yeah, we met with you and she trusted Lord. And then a couple of weeks ago, he trusted Christ of Savior. I was walking past him out here and I guess it was the parking lot. who was singing jingle bells? I was. See, there, it pays to sing jingle bells. But anyway, and I talked to him and he trusts the Lord. And I think it’s just, you know, neat that here’s Warren.
Where do we find Warren? And he was just walking down the street and writing to Joe’s barn grill. Now he was down there at the Bible study. The Hank Linson started years ago, and so he still got that thing going. He still, he does the Bible study now. See, I don’t have to do the Bible study. Get somebody else to do it. Because it was getting where I got so many things going on. And so he takes care of that.
But I didn’t know the guy could play an instrument, but he came out of here and I gave him one lesson. Now he came out and he started playing that. Then the next thing you know, I thought I’m gonna have to go up here and nail both of his feet down. And they used to have a problem with Elvis Presley, you know. And I thought I’m gonna have to do something about this kid. But he just, he is in his music.
But he smiles, he’s a joy. And I think, then he started singing. Then he got in the choir. He’s after my job. And I was told that some of these other guys that, you know, that spoke. A lot of them are getting better and better and better. And when I was in Colorado, we had 10 or 15 guys that could speak at any, you know, they want me to leave just so they get a chance to preach while I was gone.
And they said, you know, it’s my turn next, my turn next. So anyway, I’m thankful. Anybody else want to get a word before we quit? Don’t say, well, I should have said, I was just ready to say something. There you are. I just want to say I appreciate all of y’all especially but one person that hasn’t been mentioned Who has been helping me out a lot is Keaton? I’m very grateful for having him around he’s gotten me out of my head a lot and that’s a lot to do She’ll tell you as hard to get out of this head.
I appreciate her if it wasn’t for Stephanie. I wouldn’t even be here I wish under different circumstances, but all right But I definitely want to keep him. He’s been there for me more than I can say. So thank you. Let’s see, Keaton came out and his wife because of us, Steve Yant back there because he was working with him. And they came and sat down here and they trusted the Lord. And I think it’s just wonderful high just goes and goes and goes and grows and grows and grows.
Alrighty, nobody else. Alright, saw somebody back here scratch your head. That’s how you make a bid in an auction. You gotta watch that. Alright, now from our message. Now, well, I’m glad y’all were here, and I hope that you have enjoyed. But I’ll always remember this. You don’t have to do it once a year. It’s always good as things are done and you’re learning something, people have been a blessing to you. Don’t take people for granted. Just like, well, they’ll always be here.
Now, some of us are going to start passing away and that’s just the fact of the matter. If God carries, there could be some home going for some people that’s coming here. And this year ain’t quite over yet. But a lot of things, I’m expecting a lot of things. And yes, sir. I just want to remind everybody to what Pastor just said about the hay slips, the Reavers and Kelly Dunn and Louie as well. We had a really trying year with people that had passed and I’m, if I’ve, David Bauer as well, lost his parents.
But we just need to think about them too and if you have a chance to reach out to them, I know it helps them tremendously. Rick’s been doing our library for years and the hay slips, I mean Jim is always back here singing. David Bauer does our internet. Louie helps out with our ministries in many ways. And there have been some people this year that it was very difficult because of the way these people have passed away. Kelly too.
You guys remember Kelly with Tom? So I need to just be thinking about them. I just wanted to say that because those people are really important not to diminish anybody else, but those people are really important. We need to just kind of give them a handshake, Let them know and mean it. That’s your praying for them. And if they need something, you’re available. Tonight when I came in here, a real tall, good looking handsome man met me. And Steve Yant told me, says, he says, you need to preach that sermon.
You preach this morning again tonight. Make sure everybody got it. And that encouraged me so much. thought, well, I could use a few more of those. So thanks so much for your words of encouragement. You see, individually you know your labor and the Lord is never in vain. And you don’t want the labor that you gave to people to be in vain. Paul mentioned that several times, unless I have labored in vain, labored in vain. And with people you can work in labor in vain and they not profit from it.
They don’t get it. And so, but with the Lord it’s never in vain, but with individuals sometimes You feel like you’re wasting your time. But they don’t get it, you don’t see anything, they don’t grow in the Lord, that they never compliment, they never, and so that can break your heart. And so that’s why I think it’s good to learn to express yourself and your love and appreciation for something. That doesn’t mean you have to go hugging everybody. Now, you know, I’m not a big fan of hugging.
I didn’t see too many preachers get into trouble hugging the wrong one at the wrong time. And I don’t think I need to do that. So if it’s all right with you, I’ll just shake your hand and maybe a little pat on the shoulder. But we always tell the kid to go to camp. No huggy bear, no smacking mouth. And no huggy bear, no huggy bear. That’s what we’re talking about. I don’t mind if somebody else wants, and if your wife is there and she don’t mind it, I guess a little hug or something like that, but I’m not that away.
I am so fearful of something going wrong and me losing my ministry that I’ve spent 55 years building. Nothing else is gonna be worth it. And I don’t want to offend anybody. And I don’t want, really, I don’t want people to offend me. And I’ve had people say, well, Yankee, he’s just a mean old dictator. No, I just don’t like being dictated to. So a lot of times that’s what they mean. They dictate to me what I have to do.
And I don’t have to do that. So anyway, that’s just a side note, no extra charge. But I did have a message for the night. It’s only 10 after, seven. So after all those words of great encouragement, the last thing you’d want to do is get it walk out, right? You know, I’m not even going to take a vote on this. So anyway, for the sake of those that are watching by internet, you know what I’ve got to do, don’t you?
You know what I should do, don’t you? Don’t you, Tom? I guess I better go ahead and do that. So look up here. The greatest story in all of that, we talk about how we love Christmas, son, and here’s the Christmas story. This is you and me, and this is sin. We all have sin on us. God loves us, hates our sin. Now this is part of the Christmas story. That’s why Jesus was born because God loves us, but sin won’t let us get into heaven.
So this is the way that God designed on how to get us into heaven. But it says, the way to the sin is death and we’re all sinners, we’re all condemned, but God loves us. Wants us to have eternal life and to be with Him for all eternity. So it’s either be with Christ for all eternity or be separated from Him for all eternity. I kind of like the idea of going up. You have to be perfect and no one’s perfect.
And by our works, it’ll never pay for our sins. We need a Savior. God loves the world so much He sent His Son Jesus Christ into this world. And that’s why He was born. And that’s why He lived a perfect life. And that’s why He went to the cross to pay for all of our sins, because our sins separated from Him. So He took them, He paid for them. came back from the dead and says, if you’ll believe I did that for you, I’ll give you a free gift eternal life, and you get to go to heaven on what Christ did for you.
Best news in all the world. And all you have to do is believe it. And if you’ll believe it, then you can know that you have eternal life. Because he that believe it on him, hath everlasting life. Let’s pray show him. With his bow nice clothes, no one looking around. And if you’re watching by internet tonight, we know that the most important thing can ever do is to trust Christ as your Savior. And if you’ve never done so, do it right now.
Just talk to the Lord and say, Lord, I know I’m a sinner and I believe that Christ died for me, and I’m going to trust him right now as my only hope is going to heaven. You see, he puts that payment he made. For your sins, he puts it to your account. Your debt has been paid in full, and it’s been put to your account when you believe. And so that means that you can know that you’re going to heaven because there’s no sin for you to pay for, and he loves you that much.
Will you believe it? I pray that you will. Father, we thank you again for your blessings, for all you do for us and for each person here, and we pray that we would have a church Father that not only wants to be served, but wants to serve. Not I don’t want to be blessed, but I want to be a blessing, and we’re thankful for all the comments that have been given tonight, and for Lord lifting people’s spirits. Let them see that serving you is worth it.
And follow, we pray that we can serve you in such a way that people could know that we love one another. As you said in your word, and we ask not your blessings upon each person here, we pray, Lord, you can do what we can’t do, that Lord, you would put a burden upon individuals. Well, we can’t make people come to college. We only want We want to provide an environment where people who have a hunger and want to do something for you.
We want to make it possible. We want to avail ourselves and the time and the place so that people can learn your word in such a way that they can be useful tools. Fit for the ministry.
