You’re getting a copy of my notes this morning. I hope they will be a blessing to you. But today we have communion service, and I want you to make sure you definitely understand what it’s really all about. And when you get your notes turned in your Bible to the book of 1 Peter chapter 1, 1 Peter and chapter 1. 1 Peter chapter 1 and verse 18, the title of today’s message is on the incorruptible blood of Christ. There’s many churches today that have taken out the message of blood and the sermons and also out of the psalm books because it appears to be a little offensive to some people to talk about blood.
Well here at Calvary Community Church we believe the blood of Jesus Christ is precious blood. It is the foundation on which Christianity rest. Without the shedding of His blood, there is no Christianity. There is no salvation. There is no eternal life. There is no hope. There’s nothing. But what makes it so important? So here in 1 Peter 1, now once you look there in verse 18, for as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers.
But the verse does state in your notes there, you know that you are redeemed. It means you know that you have been paid for, you’ve been bought. a debt you and I owed that has been paid in full. So we can say I am redeemed. I’m redeemed. It’s even a good song to sing. In verse 19 it says, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. In your notes there, you know you’ve been redeemed, redeemed, you know what didn’t redeem you, and you know what did redeem you.
If being redeemed is important, then that which redeemed us must be important, wouldn’t you think? So if we have been redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, should we be ashamed of the blood of Christ. If He had not paid our sin dead, no man would go to heaven. We would all go to hell. Now, where will you rather spend eternity in heaven or in hell? The only way for you to be redeemed from hell is by the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
When other people don’t like to hear it or talk about it, let it be them, but not you. You have been redeemed. You know that. Do you believe that? Do not be afraid or ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The good news of the gospel is that He paid for my sin with His blood. The next thing I want you to notice here in your notes is the necessity of the blood, the need to be right before God.
See, there is a righteous God in heaven. He is perfect. He has eternal life. You and I, because of sin in the world, we have all sinned. We’ve sinned against God. And because God is a just God, a holy God, a righteous God, sin must be punished, and the wages of sin is death. The soul that sin shall die. Since all men have sinned, everybody is guilty and the whole world is guilty before God, before God. So he’s the one we’ve sinned against.
He’s the one that says we need to be righteous or we can never be in his presence. Because we both sin, we’re all going to leave this world and we’re all going to die. Now I want you to take your Bible and turn there to the book of Leviticus 17 and verse 11 the book of Leviticus. Leviticus chapter 17 and look at this verse. This is mentioned even in the Old Testament but you’ll also remember when Adam and Eve send against God, they went to hide themselves.
Now, God, slew an animal, took the skin and covered them with it. Their fig leaves would not work. They covered themselves with leaves, God was not impressed. So He made a sacrifice, an innocent animal died, took the skin and put it to them and says, cover yourself. So something that was innocent, guiltless, died for them in the very beginning. That principle has followed through all the way down. So So here he says in verse 11 of Leviticus 17, for the life of the flesh is in the blood.
And I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls. For it is the blood that make it an atonement for the soul. Life of the flesh is a scientific fact. the altar, that is a historical fact to make an atonement for the soul is a theological fact. This is truth. This is what God’s Word says. So even in the Old Testament, the reason they had these sacrifices was because these animals, innocent animals, was used as an appeasement to God.
It didn’t take away their sin. It didn’t please God. It didn’t satisfy God. only covered their sin until a payment was made. Jesus Christ coming was typified in the Old Testament by all the sacrifices of the animals, the bulls and the goats and so on, that died as a covering because it was innocent for the guilty. But God says the blood of bulls and goats did not satisfy God. There was something that had to be done and God had a plan.
Now I want you to look there in your notes where I have Leviticus 17, 11, and just read that with, because of sin we need a place to hide from sin. They tried to hide from God by having those leaves that wouldn’t cover, that it was not a sacrifice, and that was the same problem that King have because he did not have a blood sacrifice. He offered his works of what he could produce, and they did according to the works that they could produce, but God wanted a blood sacrifice from the very first all the way down through time.
It’s not changed. So now take your Bible and look into Book of Hebrews in chapter 10. The Book of Hebrews and chapter 10. Hebrews chapter 10 and notice they’re in verse Verse 2, you know that the law, the Old Testament, could not make the comers there unto perfect. The law could not do that. All the sacrifices of all the high priests through all those years never made anybody perfect. Neither did it make it them perfect nor could it take away the guilt of sin.
You see, when we do something new, we do it. wrong, there is the wrong that we did against God, but there is the guilt on man that he did it. And even if somebody forgives you sometimes of what you’ve done wrong, you still have that guilt that you did it. Isn’t it true that there’s probably things you have done and you’ve been forgiven for, but the guilt you still carry with you and you wish you could get it with the guilt?
Well, there is a way, but that’s another sermon for another time. But how do you cleanse a man’s mind of the guilt of the wrong that he does? And everybody says, everybody does wrong. But the guilt is there because you know it’s wrong. But how do you get rid of that? So he says here in verse 2 of chapter 10, For then would they not have ceased to be offered? Because that the worshipper once purged should have had no more conscience of sin.
It wouldn’t bother him anymore. But it does bother. It stays with you the guilt. And how can you remove the guilt? The stain of sin upon the man. So you can do the wrong, But how do you get the stain of sin out of a man’s soul? And that’s always been something that people have struggled with all your life. If you have a wronged your wife, and then later on you wish you had never done it. Or is she’s wronged you?
Or the kids? On jobs we say things, we do things, and we hurt people, and they hurt us. and we carry bitterness and envy and jealousy and greed and all the anger that can be built up inside us, eat sadness like cancer. You know what can cleanse me of being like this. Take your Bible and look in 1 Corinthians in chapter 15. 1 Corinthians in chapter 15. And notice there in verse 50. All human blood and animal blood is corrupted because all humans, all animals, all die.
So no blood of any human and no blood of any animal can satisfy the debt payment we owe we have corruptible blood. It’s corruptible. We came from a corruptible seed. We are corrupted individuals. Our love isn’t pure. Our obedience isn’t pure. We don’t totally understand the way of righteousness, perfection. We have fault, flaws in our character, in our makeup. Regardless of how good we want to be, we aren’t. We can know what is right and still not do it.
We can know something is wrong. Want to stop? Don’t do it. All these things happens to all of us. So here in this verse 50, now this I say brethren, the flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Neither the corruption inherit in corruption. The flesh is corrupted, the blood is corrupted. And that’s why it cannot create in corruption because it is corrupted. The flesh cannot produce something better than itself. We have all been contaminated with a virus.
We have no immune for it. So look there in your notes at the next statement I have, the nature of the blood. There is a need for better blood. No man, no animal can produce better blood than what we already have. Our blood is corruptible. We’re all to die. We have a sense of nature. The life of the flesh is in the blood. And I have given it to you upon the altar to make it a good soul. What can wash your sins away?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Nothing but his blood. But there’s a reason why. Why? The nature of the blood, I thought I’d throw this in here. When I went into boot camp, all the people got a little bottle of whisk and a little brush. We had to wash our own clothes, and we had a little brush and we had to wash our clothes. Now this was new to me, this was against my nature, and I couldn’t believe how that you could pour that whisk on air and and just scrub it with that brush and makes it clean.
But here I have tied, whisk, and claw rocks may remove the stain of dirt from your clothes, but only perfectly innocent, incorruptible blood can remove the stain of sin from the soul. So you can take all the baths you want to, and it won’t wash your sins away. You can be baptized a thousand times in every church there is and it will not wash away your sins. It won’t wash away the dirt off your neck unless you use soap with it.
And I would recommend tied whisk or chlorox. Maybe there’s a bunch more. But there’s something that had to be done. That’s why no man can pay for another man’s sin because he’s guilty of his own. it would take somebody that’s innocent, that had incorruptible blood superior blood, not contaminated immune to sin immune to death. And if we could have that blood transfusion, maybe it would help us. I used to sing a song years ago called Child of the King.
Once I was closed in the rags of my sins, wretched and poor, lost in lonely within, Then with one of compassion the king of all kings, In pity and love took me under his wing. Oh yes, oh yes, I’m a child of the king, His royal blood now flows in my veins, I, who was wretched and poor, now can sing, praise God, praise God. I’m a child of the King. I needed the blood of the King in my veins.”
In other words, something that would keep me from being corruptible, sinful, perfect. What’s going to make me perfect, righteous, Holy is God. This is why God had to do something for man. Now take your Bible and turn there to the next scripture. You have right here in \(\ the book of Luke and chapter 1 and verse 35. When Jesus was going to be born, an angel appeared to Mary and told her, says, you’re going to have a child.” She said, what?
She says, you’re going to havearrass a child. She says, I’m going to have a child. I’m not married. I don’t have a husband. He says, got some news for you. An angel of the Lord will overshadow thee. And the angel of the Lord is going to place a seed in your womb. It’s not because of a man. A man is not going to do this to you. God is going to do this to you. So God needed a woman in order that He might produce this superior man.
He needed a man that did not have contaminated, corruptible blood. So He says here in verse 35, and the angels answered and said unto her, the Holy Spirit the goat shall come upon thee and the power of the Almighty shall overshadow thee, therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. The body, the blood. Was not corruptible, as it says in 1 Corinthians in chapter 15 and verse 50. Flesh and blood.
Hours. No. Can not give us eternal life. It has to come from some incorruptible blood. Perfect blood. Precious blood. They didn’t have the curse upon it. It would be a cure. And as I said here in your notes, that there are those that have heard an awful lot about the Ebola virus that they’re having over there in Africa. They said there’s no cure for it. And so they’re feverically trying to find a cure. So if you take this and it’s to be a cure for this, but when there is no cure, then people die.
And there had been plagues that have hit this world at times and there have been no cure in people by the thousands would die. Well, look at the human race. Every man born, they all died. We’re here just for a few years and then we all died. Wouldn’t it be needed if we didn’t have to die? Well, then you’ll have to have a special kind of blood, a special blood, incorruptible blood. The life of the flesh is in the blood.
So if Christ would ever give his life, he must shed his blood because the life of the flesh is in the blood. So that’s why the blood of Jesus tries his precious because it contained his life, eternal life in that blood. That’s why if it lasts forever, it has to be, well, if it’s eternal, it has to be perfect. So his blood was perfect blood, incorruptible blood. Jesus then was born without a sinful nature. He could have lived forever.
He didn’t have to die. Jesus did not sin. Jesus did no wrong. There was no fault, no flaws in Him. That holy things shall be born of these shall be called the Son of God. And that’s who Jesus Christ was. So out of all the people on the face of the earth, Jesus Christ was born with incorruptible blood and He lived and He made a payment. But first of all, I want to take your Bible looking John in chapter 1, the Gospel of John in chapter 1.
I could not die for your sins because I’m guilty of my own. You couldn’t die for somebody else regardless of how much you loved them. You said, well, I’ll give up my life. You can give up temporary life here so that somebody else may live, but they’re still He’s going to die. Here in John chapter 1, look there in verse 29, verse 29, in an old scope of a reference Bible, one of the church’s Bibles, that’s 11, 15, page 11, 15.
But notice what he says in verse 20, the next day John seeeth Jesus coming unto him, and he said, Behold the Lamb of God, which take of the way the sin of the world. somebody that was that holy thing has now grown up. Now he’s a man. John DeBadis had preached. He’s coming after me. He’s mighty. He says, this one is the Lamb of God. What do you think he means? Behold the Lamb of God. What did they use lambs for in the Old Testament in the temple sacrifices.
They were killed. But this is a lamb that only has to be killed one time and it would be sufficient for all mankind. This is why God says, whenever you believe on Jesus Christ and his life was shed for you, then this blood that was shed for you, believe it, my faith is put to your account. And the Lord says, when I see the blood, I will, what? I will pass over you. That’s why it’s called a pass over in the Old Testament.
When Israel was down in Egypt, says they were to put the blood of the lamb upon the door post and the lennel. And when I see the blood, I’ll pass over you. Otherwise, the first born in every home will die. Everybody. And multitudes of people died because they did not apply that blood. So the Bible says, when I see the blood, I will pass over you. This is why when you believe in the death of Jesus Christ and His resurrection, that’s the one who died and paid for your sins.
But ifDownloadha you don’t believe it, that death payment, his blood is not applied to you. And you do not have eternal life, you don’t have eternal life, you will die, you are corrupted. You will spend an eternity forever dying and never passing away, forever dying and yet never die. Separated from God, but you can’t be annihilated. You will exist. It doesn’t have to be that away. So the Bible says Jesus Christ came look there in your notes. I want you to see this That letter a His blood was immune to the virus of sin Jesus knew no sin he cannot sin there was nothing in him that could be defiled Jesus was perfectly the son of God He never was wrong yet.
He was tempted in all points like as we are yet with out sin So he had no sin to pay for it. That’s why he could voluntarily willingly become the serum that you need for curing that all sinful nature that you have. Without that serum you have no hope. And you wonder, well, why am I like I am? Why do I do the things that I do? Why am I so mean at time? Why do I feel so ugly at time?
That’s why you have corruptible blood. and there’s a serum for it. And if you reject this serum, the only thing that God has ever provided, then you will have no hope. So in the next statement, Christ’s blood was the serum for everlasting life. As in the outbreak of the Ebola, there is a need for a serum that will destroy the of the virus. John 29 Christ was the only New kinsman with the only perfectly innocent, incorruptible blood. Not just to be a near kinsman, he was a new kinsman, a new kind of a human being.
Somebody born into this world of a virgin birth. That’s why he could not have a human father. If he had a human father, his blood would be no different than ours. was not of us kind of manufacture somebody that has pure blood. And then we all take his, you know, the serum. No, no, no. God sent his son into the world, perfectly righteous, and he was born without a man as his father and gave him perfect, incorruptible blood. Christ was willing to shed His blood so that you and I could take His life, eternal life, because outside of that we don’t have eternal life.
You’re not born with eternal life. Well, you exist forever, but that’s not life. You’re forever dying. So God’s talking about something special. Hello. Thank you for tuning in to today’s program.
