We’re going to talk about an interesting subject, one you always want to hear when you come to church, What is sin? There’s a lot of preaches the day that don’t want to talk about sin. It makes people feel bad. But it’s in the Bible if you didn’t know that. It’s all the way through the Bible. Sin, sin, sin. All of the problems that we have is because of sin. Look at all the sorrow, the grief, the war, murders, and the rape.

It’s because of sin. All the ailments you go through in your body because of sin. The reason you have to get up in the morning and go to work because of sin, because God cursed the earth or it doesn’t provide like it could have and would have, and that man shall work by the sweat of his face. I don’t know if he’ll sweat much anymore, but everything is, oh, I think we’re so tired, let’s put it to bed. But there’s a lot of things that we need to understand about this little thing called sin.

You probably think you know all about it, you might learn something this morning. So I want you to look there in your notes. What is sin? Whatever it is, we’re all guilty because God says all have sinned. Now that’s either the true or not. And if we’ve all sinned, it must be pretty bad because God will not tolerate one sin in heaven. One sin and God kicked that young couple out of the garden. One sin. That’s how bad it really is.

But I want you to look there in your notes under number one, whosoever, committed sin transgresses the law, for sin is the transgression of the law. Why did God give the law so that you and I would understand how bad sin is and that we have all sinned. So God says sin is a transgression of the law. Failure to keep the law is because we’re sinners and so it means to miss the mark of perfection. I have met a few people over the years that have declared they have not sinned know are they sending or they’re not going to send in the future either and so they have a poor idea about what is sin.

We think sometimes it’s not that bad because I haven’t killed anybody. I haven’t robbed a bank and so therefore I’m not you know a bad sinner. You’re one of those good sinners. I preached a sermon here not long ago on my sin is better than your sin but we’ve all sinned whatever it is, we’ve all done it. Look at the next statement number two, for what so ever is not a faith is sin in the book of Romans in chapter 14.

What so ever is not a faith is sin. It means as you read and study the Bible, we’re supposed to do according to the Word of God, we’re supposed to believe what God’s Word says, and we’re not supposed to sin. But We all sinned. The Ten Commandments themselves are all based around one word, and that’s love. Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, mine soul and sin, and we’re supposed to love one another. If we did those two things, really did them.

We wouldn’t have even sinned. We would solve all the problems in America. It’s not that we need more laws, but there’s a problem on the inside of man. Why do we do or what we do? Number three, it is imperfection. It’s mistakes or heirs or rebellion to God’s will, and you can make up your own little definition, but whatever it is, it means that you are not perfect. You’ve done things wrong. And sometimes you can’t see how bad some of the things that we do, how bad they are, because we don’t have a background that’s perfect.

We think that the sins are not that bad because everybody’s doing it. But if we can show you perfection. Then you see how bad it is. You can’t see that black dot unless we put something white behind it. Then it will really be manifested and show up. Number four, it is why everything that has life dies. Everything that has life dies. Why? Because of sin. God says the day that you eat thereof, you shall surely die. I mean, they were cut off from the source of life.

And even though he physically didn’t die that day, He was in the process of dying. And finally, after a number of years, he died. And you read the fifth chapter of the book of Genesis and he lived 900 and some years and he died. He didn’t live so many years and he died. Never one of them, regardless how long they lived they all died. The Bible says, for the wages of sin is death. In other words, you earned the right to die because the wages of sin is death.

says we have all sinned, we deserve to die. So we’re sinners by nature, but we’re also sinners by choice. We choose to say, even when we know to do right, we still don’t always do right. In other words, you can’t trust you. You can’t trust you. It is not within man that walked up to direct us steps. And because we all fail ourselves because we missed the mark of perfection. Years ago I wrote this little poem. I don’t think I’ve ever read it in church, but I have it on about three or four different napkins in another piece of paper that I had.

And so I thought I’d just put it together because it goes with what I’m talking about today. The sin and the sinner. You see, well I’m glad that’s not referring to me. Oh, it just refers to that person that’s setting me beside you. or behind you, or are you in front of you? Don’t duck. This is what the sin and the sinner. And who here is classified you have been a sinner? How many? Raise your hand if you’re a sinner.

If you know you’re a sinner, God bless you. There’s a few of you that will not admit it. You’ll never admit it. You died before you admitted. Everybody’s sins, but I haven’t. And everybody knows that you confessed their sin, but have you ever noticed that some people never confess their sin because, well, I didn’t do it. Because they’re always right. This man says, I knew that I’m married, misright. I didn’t know her first name was always. That was a jewel.

Center, that’s what I am. I’m a center. Send, oh, that’s what I’ve done. You see, we send in the things that we do and think, the things we say. Sin should be magnified to show what it really is, but not glorified as something to be proud I did. There is no man that should be able to be proud I sinned. Boy am I glad boy I did a good job. You ought to be proud of me. No it’s when we do something right whenever your children do something and they did something wrong boy that was great.

We usually try to magnify their obedience when it’s good obedience and we brag and call we want them to do more of it. But if you ever had parents say you never do anything right, never do anything right. Well maybe you want to live up to that reputation but it’s better to complement when they do something right than always condemn them when they do something wrong. But anyway, next statement. Sin should be simplified that it may be recognized and not deified as just in our eyes.

In other words, some people glorify and dignify sin, as though it’s something to be proud of. There’s people that brag about how many people they’ve slept with. I heard Magic Johnson one time talk about how he was so glad he didn’t slept with about 10,000 women I thought, how? That’s impossible. But I mean, Solomon had 1,000 wives, 700 wives, and 300 porcupines. So, but they’re proud of how ugly they are. I saw a thing that they had on the women march, and this year a woman comes on there and she says, I’m bad.

I’m wicked. I’m going to, I thought you ought to be ashamed of yourself. It’s a shame and a disgrace. I don’t know if I’ll ever finish this point here this morning, But anyways, sin should be clarified so that others may see and not justified so that others may flee. Because you don’t want people to do what you do. That’s why in your life, as parents, you should always Do is right as you possibly can because there’s little eyes watching you.

We always tell the kids, there’s an eye up on high watching you and there’s an also an eye down here below that’s watching you. So you need to be careful of the way you live, the attitude you have, the words you have. Now, I was told that they didn’t hear this from their mother and dad, but in Pueblo, Colorado, I walked out of the house one day and looked across the street and there was a the church, I mean my brother was running at the time and And little Melanie was only about four years old.

And she was out there with Michael, and they were riding their bikes, but Melanie would have it in trouble with the pedal. She put her foot on time to stand up and her foot was slipped off of it. And she would let out a string of words. And I thought, where did she hear that from? And I mean, and it wasn’t, she just foot slipped again. She threw that bike down, and she let out a string of cuss words.

And I was across the street and I said, what did you say? And Michael said, she said, bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla. The motto is never make Melanie mad. Because some people have no restraints in certain parts of their lives. I’ve watched and I’ve seen people who have known the Lord, loved the Lord, and they are godly as godly can be in their Christian life. And then when they get older, they begin, sometimes they become a little see now and they don’t remember everything, and they lose that restraint.

And so one time in the middle of the church service, she was sitting there in the back, brought her in from the nursing home, and right in the middle of the sermon, she let it out, there was no restraints, and she said, words unspeakable. I mean, you thought she’d been in the Navy, and people were shocked, how can this be? ——————– You are a sinner. It says you have learned how to control some of your temper tantrums and control your words and maybe to the certain point control your thoughts, but you are a sinner.

And it comes from the inside of you regardless of what’s happened on the outside. That little girl, she has a sinful nature. And even when we get older, we may not have the constraints and we can say things and that’s why sometime when a person does get little sinner, they can become totally ugly as possible. I mean, you wouldn’t believe how bad it can be. They can become mean and irritable and charge you with anything you want to hit you or beat you up and they don’t know what they’re doing and many times they don’t.

And so we are, when I see and I go to the hospitals all the time, I go to nursing home, I am looking at the ravages of what sin has done to this world. I thought if Adam and Eve could have seen what was going to happen because of that one little fruit. See what kind of fruit was, everybody, what kind of fruit? It’s a banana, it had a peel. But there’s a sinful nature that we were born with.

You do not have to teach anybody how to sin. It comes natural. That’s because it’s called a sinful nature. Now look at the next statement. Sin has a song for us to sing, to lull to sleep before the sting, To destroy our soul is Satan’s reason. He offers pleasure for a season. Blinded minds and wounded hearts are caused by Satan’s fiery darts. Sin from the heart corrupts the mind. Defiles a man and steals his time. For the heart of man is a deceitful thing.

It destroys his life while declaring him king. For the wages of sin leads to death in hell. the rights to his soul he cannot sell. The flames of hell he did not flee. Will he blame God himself or me? For God alone did all he could to prove to all that God is good. Will you right now believe Christ died that for your sin was crucified? Your sinful heart waits to deceive, that salvation by grace is only believed. If everyone knew how bad they really are, you would see of why they need a Savior.

Today we have a lot of even preachers. They’re always talking about do you want to have a relationship with God? Now that sounds so spiritual, but here’s a lost man and he dies at any moment. He’s going to be in the flames of hell. Would you like to have a relationship with God? Would you like to walk with God? I trusted Christ as my Savior because I wanted fire insurance. . . . . . . . . . I didn’t want to go to hell.

And a person who said, well, I haven’t had it so far, I don’t care if I, well, I can wait down the road and still have a relationship with God. If I was to let him know, look, the moment you die, you’re going to hell for all eternity. There is no other choice. And it’s made and it’s over. You’re in hell for eternity. Now, do you think you need to get saved? I don’t use that other philosophy. And what does it mean to have a relationship with God?

What do you mean by that? Well, you gotta think about what you’re talking about. You’re talking about me and God getting along. You’re talking about this walk in hand in hand on the road? What do you mean by this? A relationship with God. Without the birth, there is no relationship. And without the walk, there is no fellowship. So birth gives me relationship and my walk gives me fellowship. And when you break the walk, you can break the fellowship, but the fellowship is not restored until you restore the walk with God.

Sometimes I get burning on some of this stuff. It’s inside of me. Anyway, go back now to the source of sin. Where did it come from? Your wife. No, just joking. Look at this. Jesus said this. ye are of your father, the devil, and the lust of your father, you will do.” He was a murderer from the beginning. Well, who did he kill? Remember Cain kill Abel? Devil’s involved. He’s always involved. You have in the same sinful nature that the devil has.

No just what else? He says, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh the lie, He speaks of his own for he is a liar and the father of it. It came because of Satan, who was Lucifer, who rebelled against God and then tempted Eve. And she ate the fruit. Adam was not deceived. Adam knew what he was doing. And he made his decision, if she’s dying, I’m going with her. He did love her.

And the Bible talks about this in the book of Romans in chapter 5 and verse 12. But now look what he says here. In Ezekiel 28, 15, thou was perfect in thy ways from the day that thou was created till iniquity was found in thee. That’s where sin began. Then begin with man, God is not the author of sin. Look at the next statement, for thou have said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven. This is what the devil said.

He said it in his heart, does God know your thoughts? What you’re saying in your mind, where you really are, the way you really are? God knows your thoughts. And there may not be pictures that you would hang on the walls of your home, but there might be pictures you’d hang on the walls of your mind. And though you may not say certain things, you might be thinking things that are ungodly. You see, we don’t want to talk about those things like that because then people, they get this uneasy feeling.

You know, I hate it when I go to church and you pick on sin. Well, if you don’t tell them about sin, they don’t need no correction. Sin is the reason we need help. We need to know what God’s word says and how to have victory in our Christian life. And I want people to have eternal life and they go to heaven when they die. But look at the next statement. How earth are fallen from heaven over Lucifer? Son of the morning.

How earth are cut down to the ground which He said, weaken the nations. And if he can weaken the nations, he can weaken you. You see, Satan was gonna do everything possible because we all have a sinful nature to lure us. And I’ve said this before. If the rat didn’t like cheese, you could not use cheese to lure the rat. There’s something on the inside of the rat that says, mmm, I like cheese. And you put it on that little trap and that little mousey goes over there and wants to get some of that cheese.

got it. How did he get trapped? Because there was something inside. He was lured. Satan knows about the sinful nature. You got yours from him through our parents. But it all came from the devil. And that’s why he wants to lure you until the lust of the flesh body and the lust of the eyes which you see and the pride of life. Pride, the man wants fame, honor, power, and glory. And so the devil knows he can use those things and draw you away from the Lord.

That’s why all of God’s children… Don’t always serve the WARRANT because Satan is luring because you have a sinful nature still within you. Look at the next statement. This is what he said. For thou have said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will sit upon the mount of the congregation and the sides of the North and Isaiah 14 in verse 13. And then he says, I will ascend above the height of the clouds.

I will be like the most high. Do you notice anything that I highlighted? Do you notice any of those words that I highlighted? I will. I will is the rebellion against God’s will. So whenever you, if you trusted Christ to save it, yet your God shall, you’re going to heaven when you die. But for your Christian life, you’d be surprised how many of God’s children Say, I will go to church, I will not go to church. I will give, I will not give.

I will witness, I will not. I will, whatever. You have a will and sometimes your will clashes with the will of God. Whenever your will clashes with the will of God, you are supposed to submit your will to God. If you don’t submit your will to God, you’re not submitted to God. If you’re living your life the way you want to live, and it’s not toward Godliness the way God wants you to live, you’re not committed to the Lord.

You’re not submissive to the Lord’s will. You are in rebellion. Is it possible for you to come to church this morning? Sing, stand, pray, give, and be in rebellion to God. And your heart not be right with God. God knows that. you are not going to win. You will not win. You will not get away with it. You’re heavenly Father who loves you going to beat the Torah out of you. Now look at the next statement. Note down at the bottom.

God cannot sin nor does he tempt any man to sin because there’s a verse in the Bible that says this. Look, for we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities but was in all points tempted like as we are yet without sin. He was without sin. God does not tempt any man to sin. Sin did not originate with God. In 1 John chapter 3 and verse 5, and ye know that he was manifest to take away our sins.

And in him is no sin. There’s no sin in Christ. That’s why when you trusted Christ as your Savior, the Bible says you were born of God and he places you in him and in him there is no sin. And placing you in Christ, you have to be perfect to be in Christ. That’s why the new birth means you’re born of God. You see my old sinful nature, does nobody hear this old first birth? That’s the flesh born to this world, with a physical body, with an old sinful nature.

But when I trusted Christ as my savior, God gave me a new birth, spiritual birth, born of God, no sinful nature. No sinful nature,Catal sin, no sin, no die, lives for eternity. I have two births, Spirit. When I die physically, this one they bury, and this one I get to go to be with the Lord in heaven. And as long as I live on this earth, God says this one is in him. And he said, he’ll never cast me out of him.

He’ll never lose me. So I am in him in a perfect place because my new birth is perfect. And this is the one that’s going to heaven. And you say, well, what if you’re still sin of the, he did that. This one cannot sin. fuzzed. God, number two, God does create evil. If we understand by this evil means he did not create sin. He created the evil or the results of sin. For example, you may choose to rebel against the Lord.

your choice and you can commit any sin you want but your heavenly Father can determine the consequences. In other words whether or not is he gonna take you home leave you here and be miserable or be sick whatever you but God is not gonna let you do whatever you want to do and get away with it. Just because you have eternal life in your God’s child does not mean you can live as you please and get away with it.

Can you live as you please? Yes you can but you can get away with with. There is pleasure in sin for a season. Of course there is. Otherwise, people wouldn’t Dut! It’s part of our nature, but it’s not part of a godly nature. It’s rebellion to God and there’s consequences to our sins. And you’d be surprised as we get older, we see more of the consequences of our sins that we committed years and years ago. Down to the bottom of the page, God does create evil in that He produces or determines the consequences for the sins we commit.

He said, I formed the light, create darkness, make peace, and create evil. I, the Lord, do all these things. So, when you choose to sin, God can choose how He’s going to punish you. Isn’t it true that when you were in your parents’ home and you disobeyed and you can choose what to obey and not to obey? But it’s your parents that can choose whether or not to stand you in the corner, on your head, make you spit wooden nickels, mow the lawn, make up the bed, wash the car, or beat the Torah out of you, their choice.

And it’s not always the same. Page 2, Consequences of sin. Are the consequences be not deceived? God is not mocked. What’s your overman soeth that shall he also reap? In other words, you ask for it. You ask for it. So if you go through life happy and you’ve got a good reason because you obey the Lord, we’ll praise the Lord. If you go through life and you’re miserable because you’re disobedient, good, I’m glad. Number one, bad root produces bad fruit.

Even though every good tree brings a fourth good fruit, but a corrupt tree brings a fourth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Boy, that’s a tongue twister. It’s simple. Just remember the two natures. There’s a bad tree and a good tree. This good tree can’t bring forth anything bad and the bad tree can’t bring forth anything good. You see, the good one is the new birth and the bad tree is the over.

The one’s the sin and the other one is divine holy. Piece of cake. But when people don’t know about these two births then they get all these verses all mixed up. So where’s it coming from? Why do we do the things that we do? the mean hurtful hate to the things that we do. Well, because we got no sinful nature. And sin hardens. Sin hardens the heart of any man. When you begin to tolerate sin in your life, you’re hardening the sensitivities to rebel against sin.

You’re hardening yourself against the will of God. Now get this number two the heart is the root is the seedful above all things and desperately wicked who can know it now the Bible tells us who can know it and that’s the Lord the Lord knows about our sinful wicked hearts and so he gives us his word to let us know how bad we really are God is holy and righteous and just and perfect. Man is not. And the things that we think that are not bad, God says that is an abomination to God.

Do you think that in the mind of God and the eyes of God that is okay for a woman to murder her child in her womb? That’s murder. No other way, she sees that life and and purposely doing so at his murder. Now, and well, everybody does that. No, everybody doesn’t do that. And it doesn’t make it right. Homosexuals today, they’re getting out to the place where if you start talking about some of these sins, you’re gonna be in trouble.

Well, I guess I’m gonna be in trouble because I can’t preach the Bible when I preach it against sin. It’s either in the Bible or it’s not. That’s why I needed a Savior. That’s why you need a Savior. God wants us to walk godly lives. Live a holy life. Why? Because that’s the will of God. Now, if we don’t care about the will of God, take and put the Bible in the trash can and go live however you want to live.
