We pray that you will enjoy our commitment to the clear gospel of Jesus Christ and that today’s concluding message of this teaching will be a blessing to you and your family. Now, lookFINEST has here in chapter 9 of the book of Romans in looking verse one.

He said, I say the truth in Christ because a little bit further down he says, I speak to the truth. He said, I lie not. I lied now, in other words, what I’m telling you is the truth. And when you tell the truth, that’s not the same as swearing on the stack of Bibles when he says, swear not by the son of the moon or blah, blah, blah. And I know this is true, I swear on a stack of Bibles.

On my dead mother’s grave. As though that’s supposed to mean more. He says, let your yay be yay and your nay nay. I don’t know what that means. What do you think that means? No, you can’t go right now. What’s that? If you’re telling the truth, it should be because you said it was true. Tell the truth. And when you say no, it should be no. Your word supposed to be your bond. Well, what it used to be, but that’s passed now.

But here in Romans in chapter 9 and verse 1, he says, I say the truth in Christ, I light not my conscience also bear me witness in the Holy Ghost that I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ from my brother and my kinsmen according to the place. He loved the Jewish people. He knows how they think. He was educated the same way. He was a Hebrew. He was a Pharisee of the Pharisees.

He profited in the Jews’ religion. He was high and lifted up. He was somebody. And he thought that he was doing God a favor. But anyway, look down here in your notes to where Paul means little or small. Saul means desired and he had little patience, little patience for unfaithful ministry aids in reference to John Mark in the book of Acts in Demas whom he said, half left me for the, he loved this present world. Paul was somebody whose face was sitting like a flint and he would not move and he didn’t have much patience with those who did.

Anyway, looked at page 3. Now in verse 15 is a very interesting verse where he says, but when it pleased God who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, to reveal his son in me that I might preach him among the heathen immediately I conferred, not with flesh and blood. Now, when we’re talking here in verse 15, but when it please God, who separated me from my mother’s womb. Now, there’s a couple ways you can look at this.

Is that whenever I was born into the world and my birth was separated from my mom? Well, now it could be. And it could be a reference you might want to go all the way back to the book of Jeremiah in chapter 1, where it talks the same thing about Jeremiah before I formed the indebelia, I knew thee and I called the inordained thee that thou shalt, whatever. So there’s things that God may want a person to do. But whether he calls you by the gospel and he calls you into service, there is the will of God.

And many times we talk about God has elected to do certain things and many times that deals with service and so the will of God is God has called us to serve Him. We as a child of God have been selected, elected, and we are to serve the Lord. Just because God has determined something and revealed His will, is it possible for a They lost men to defy the will of God for salvation. God is not willing that any should perish, so that means nobody will perish.

That means that some people can, and you can defy the will of God for your life. So that means that not everybody does what God calls them to do. And even though God can call Jeremiah and wants him to do certain things, there was a time in Jeremiah’s life where he says, I’m not doing this anymore. I’ve had this. I’ve had enough of this. But he says later, he says, but his fire was in me as I burned in fire burning fire and burned in my bones like a hammer and boom.

And he says, I could not stay. I just had to keep talking. But there’s people who God may want you to do a lot of different things, but you can defy the will of God. And when it comes to salvation, God wants everybody to be saved, but you can defy that. And God may want you to serve him, but you can defy that too. Paul, God says, I will show him what great things He must suffer for my name, say.

That’s in the book of Acts in chapter nine. Paul could have said, no, I’m out of here. Did God reveal his will concerning Jonah? Did Jonah won’t know what God wanted him to do? But Jonah could have said no. And he did say no. And he did run. But God, by the time he got through with him, made him wish he’d have went ahead and went first time. But he can defy the will will of God. And then when he did what God says do, He had a wonderful attitude.

No, he had a stinking attitude because you can still defy the will of God. Even though the Bible says in Ephesians 2, 8, 9, for by grace are you say it through faith, that not of yourself, it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast. For we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus which God hath before ordained, we should walk in them. So God’s ordained that all of us should walk in Him. So that means we will.

Is it possible for people to rebel against salvation by grace? Yeah. Can they defy the will of God for their life after you’re saved? Yes. Even though God can call you and it was His will, I believe God has a plan for my life. But I could deny it too and say, I’m not going to do it. And a lot of people rebel against the Lord. Here’s the little statement that I wrote down. The will of God for us reveals God’s choices for us.

If God has a will for me what He wants me to do, then God has chosen what He would have me to do. But can I deny the choice that God made? I’m going to choose something different. God wants me to do this, and I said, nope, I’m going to do this. Not by the time God gets through with me, I’ll probably wish I had done what God says do. we can defy God’s will or defy God’s choices because God’s will is God’s choices.

That’s what He’s revealed to us. So God, we didn’t need to understand. Once you trust Christ as your Savior, say you are also the elect. See when Jesus Christ, the Bible says in the Old Testament concerning the Messiah, Jesus Christ, He is my elect. So everyone who trusts Christ as Savior that are in Christ you are in the elect. So you are the elect you’re in Christ. And so God has elected all of those that are in Christ to serve Him.

And God has left us here for a reason, for a purpose. And I believe that we should do that. But look at the top of the page. Election according to the Calvinist, this is a wrong view. This is how they look at the Scriptures and how they look at life. Election is the means of salvation. That’s what they teach. And that’s wrong. God chooses who He will save and looks over those for whom He will not choose to save.

So they say that here’s all the people in the world and God reached down and chooses to save this one and this one and this one and this one and that one. And therefore, how can you get mad at God because He chose some to save? Well, that’s fine if I was in that group. But how do I know if I’m in the group? How do I know I’m one of the elect? because I believe I am, because I’m going to church.

What about all the people that go to church? See, they’re all going to? Well, I read my Bible. You mean all the people that read their Bible are going? How do you still determine you are one of the elects? See, that causes a problem. Well, because I believe it. But what happens down the road in two weeks from now or a month from now, a year from now? You don’t believe it anymore. Okay, now you’re not one of the elect.

I’m glad I don’t have to live that away. God’s foreknowledge is synonymous with for nation or predetermination. But that is not true. Look up here. There is the foreknowledge of God. That is the an attribute that God has. He has foreknowledge. Knowledge beforehand. Predestination is an act of God. One is an attribute and one is the act of God. Predestination is what God does. One is what God knows. God may know you’re going to rob the bank tomorrow, but that doesn’t mean he predetermined you to rob the bank.

Because if Robin the bank is wrong, God cannot pre-determine you to do wrong. God doesn’t make anybody to wrong. God never tempts anybody to sin. People need to read the book, James chapter 1 all over again. So pre-destination also means the same thing. They say God has pre-determined who would be saved and who he would reject. If the Bible teaches God is not a respecter of persons, it means that here all of you are. And God’s not a respecter, in other words, he doesn’t think more of one than he does another.

God can’t love you and hate you. Because he has to have a reason why he loves this one, and he hates this one. What’s your reason, God? God says he has to be just when he is judged by the unjust. So God can’t make wrong decisions. He can’t do anything that’s questionable. God is God, and God is perfect, and God has to always make the right decisions. He can’t make wrong decisions. God is perfect. So if you have all these people, and God chooses to save this one, in this one and that one and that one and the rest of you, well, you can go to hell because God didn’t choose to save you.

So, if I’m going to die on the cross and pay for your sins, why should I pay for the sins of those people who are not going to believe? So, Jesus doesn’t have to die for everybody. He just needs to die for those that He chose to save. If He didn’t die for everybody, how do I know He paid for my sins then? The only way I can know He paid for all of my sins is to be paid for everybody’s.

True? Think about it. You got no other way of knowing. The next statement here, according to R.C. Sproul, who is now, I can’t say where he is, but he’s no longer with us, God changed the heart of the elect so that they will have a proper response to the call of the gospel. In other words, God has to give to the person, the faith to believe. So in other words, let’s say if I’m going to save Trent. It means that I have to save Trent before he ever believes because I have to give him the faith to believe.

So whenever I give him the faith, he has to believe because that’s irresistible grace. He can’t resist it. But the Bible doesn’t teach that. In the book of Acts, chapter 7, as Stephen was preaching, he says, you do always resist the Holy Ghost As your fathers did so do you. So, there is a view that we do not appreciate we don’t agree with. And so that’s at the heart of Reformed Theology which is Calvinism. The next statement, Daniel, at number five, the election to salvation is not based upon anything other than God’s sovereign will.

So I asked the man this question. I says, if God has already predetermined to save, who’s he going to save? Let’s say we take Stephanie down here. God has already looked down to the telescope of time and he saw Stephanie down here. So he has already predetermined before she was ever born, he’s gonna save her. Now be honest, if he’s already predetermined, he’s gonna save her, then she is already good to go because God has already predetermined, she’s going to be saved.

So is she ever, ever in danger of going to hell? If God has already selected her to go to heaven, is she ever really in danger of going to hell? No. And that means that she never has been and really has ever been lost. She’s not lost. Why? Because he knows her, he’s already chose her. He knew her from the beginning, he’s already saved her. And his mind, he’s already saved her. She’s going to heaven. He pretty determined that.

So if that’s true, then she’s never been lost for real. And Jesus said, He came into the world of seeking to say that which was, if there’s anybody He did not come to save, would have been all the elect. Just the opposite. The? Now I see that so clearly. I don’t know whether or not you go with me or not, whether you’ve done already done blanked out in your lulu or lala land. But I hope that you’re with me.

Look down at letter B. Election accorded to scripture never says that men are elected to receive salvation. God has chosen to save all those that believe, but he doesn’t determine who believes. Do you understand that? God is his will that everybody believe, but God does not determine who believes. God lets you make that choice. That’s why he says over and over again, who so ever believe it, who so ever believe it. And he also says in the book of John in chapter five, when he makes this statement, he says, you will not come unto me that you might have life.

It means they could, but they wouldn’t. You will not come into me that you may have life. You could have eternal life, but you won’t come to me. That was their choice. Why do you think he says, as many as received him? You To them gave he the power to become the sons of God as many as received him. It means it’s their choice. Whosoever believe it. That’s your choice. It’s not God’s choice. God’s choice was already made. He’ll save who soever believe it.

So when I believe it, I knew God had to save me. Why? He gave his word. He said, whosoever. That included me. So when Christ died, He died for all of my sins. So, a little statement to remember is the will of God for us reveals God’s choices for us. Now down here at letter F, how are believers called? Well, 2 Thessalonians in chapter 2 verse 14 says, God has called us by the gospel. So how does God call me?

Well today we have everybody got a cell phone, right? He can call us on our cell phone. He could, you know, telephone, telegraph, tell a star, tell a woman. Oh, well, anyway, we’ll be the last one now. But there’s a call for salvation through the gospel. So God calls and he says, going to all over and preach the gospel because that’s how God calls a person. So when you hear the gospel and you find out, God loves me, paid for my sins, and all I have to do is trust him is my Savior.

I heard the message, I saw the light. I trusted Christ as my Savior. Now I’m one to heaven when I die. Now, when it comes to service, God calls us to walk according to the vocation, wherewith we have been called. Where’s it say Paul made the statement, I am a prisoner of the Lord. I am a love slave, do lost. I am a love slave of the Lord. Walk you worthy of your vocation. Ephesians chapter what? Ephesians chapter what?

Can y’all find a book of Ephesians in the Bible somewhere? Or you’re just anticipating somebody else is gonna come up with it? Ephesians 4-1. Ephesians 4-1, that man must go to Bible college. Ephesians 4-1, read it out loud. I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, the seat to you that you walk worthy of the location wherewith you are called. See that verse, isn’t that a wonderful verse? And that it is. Now, down at the bottom of your pay, we’re in verse 16, Paul began immediately to preach the gospel of Christ.

Now, the woman at the well, did you know, I don’t know as it says anywhere in there about Paul telling her to go witness. But as soon as she understood, she left the wall about next day, no, she was in the city talking to the men. He said, why didn’t she talk to the women? Well, I don’t want to go there. She wouldn’t talk to the men. And what did the men do? Well, they came out to hear him.

And when they got through and listened to him, they said, this is truly the Savior of the world, the Christ, the Messiah, the Savior of the world. And they said, we believe it, not just because of her, but because we heard him ourselves. And so people trust the Lord just because that woman gave a testimony, how long should it take for a candle to be able to light another candle? Six months, year. Well, if you don’t do it right away, that candle is gonna melt and go away.

You only got so much time to live. You only got so much time to shine. You can only be on fire for so long. And so if you trust Christ as your savior, you should be able to light another candle and then light another candle. Well, because soul winning is telling somebody about how you got the light. You can see it. You know where you’re going when you die. You’ve got some knowledge, knowledge is power. And so you’re able to do that.

So God wants us to be a good sinner. And the Philippian jailer, well, he was at the jail. And what must I do to be saved? This way you gotta keep the 10 commemas and go to the Calvary Community Church. No, I said believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. And then lo and behold, the first one to talk about this is house and they believed. So how long did it take him to be so winners?

He got his whole family. Doesn’t take long when you really understand. Or look at page four on the back there. Verses 17 through 19. This is the trip that the Apostle Paul had gone through and how that he was in the backside of a desert for three years. But he did come to town and he came to Jerusalem and while he was there, he got to meet Peter. And the reason for telling this, he says, I did not get my gospel from them.

And he says, those apostles, they did meet me and they did not teach me. He says, I got it from the Lord. And those apostles knew that Paul was an apostle. So he’s verifying his apostleship by the apostles that he met. And he says, and in 15 years later he went up to Jerusalem again. And this time he met with some more. Now look what we have here in verse 17. Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me.

So he said I am an apostle but they were apostles before me because he was not one that walked around with them. He wasn’t one that followed Jesus Christ. And he says here neither went I to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before. He said but I went into Arabia and returned again unto Damascus. after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter and it bore with him for 15 days. Wouldn’t you like to have said it on that little fellowship they had there?

Now I believe that probably Barnabas was with him and Barnabas was kind of introducing him around because Paul was having a rough time until Barnabas came along. Barnabas means comforter, one that comes alongside and helps and everybody needs somebody to like that. See Paul had one kind of a temperament and Barnabas had another kind of a them and that’s what he needed. But notice what he says here. He says in verse 19, But other of the apostles saw I known, save James the Lord’s brother.

Now the things which I write unto you behold before God, I lie not. Afterwards I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia and was unknown by face unto the churches of Judea, which were in Christ. But they had heard only that he which persecuted us in times past now preached the faith, which once he destroyed. How is it like that? Everybody had heard about Paul, man, you wanna run from Paul. You wanna hide from Paul. You don’t want nothing to do with Paul.

Why be he coming? He’d come in to get you and he gonna put you in jail and he could take your life. And now that one that was like that, doing all those bad things. He says, I persecuted the church. I put many women, I put them in the prison. And he thought he was doing God a favor. And then lo and behold, God slapped him down one day, knocked him blind, light was so bright. He trusted Christ as Savior.

And lo and behold, you talk about a guy that he didn’t change his temperament. He just got it harnessed. And now with the same fervor that he was against him, now he’s for Christ. And then he says here, they heard that he was now preaching to faith with once he destroyed. And it says in verse 24, and they glorified God and man. They glorified the Lord. And that’s what is supposed to be happening in our life. Somewhere along the line, somebody made the gospel clear.

We heard it, we understood, we trusted Christ as our Savior. And when we trusted Christ as our Savior, then we begin to fall in love with the Lord. You begin to read the scriptures and a little bottle of littles. You get stronger and stronger and stronger. and that desire grows and when the desire grows, the zeal is there. And I told the college, because I said, there’s two things you have to watch is having zeal without knowledge and having knowledge without zeal.

So you can have a zeal, wanted to do something, but you don’t know what to do, at least a frustration. But when you have the knowledge, but you don’t have any zeal, that also leads to frustration. Your life becomes empty. difficult you know what to do, but you don’t have any zeal to do anything. And there’s people who trust Christ as Savior, but they just don’t have any energy to do anything for the Lord. They’re just like they’re like they’re half dead.

They don’t have any fire. They do the right things but with no zeal, no compassion. It’s like having a car on the expressway. Well, you’re in the right lane and you’re headed in the right direction. There’s just no gas in the car. You’re not going anywhere. Don’t you want to go somewhere? Want to do something, accomplish something? Well, that’s because of your faith in the Lord. That’s what gives you confidence. Confidence makes you bold and want to do something.

You see, whatever you are is what you will reproduce. So that’s why when you study the scripture says, building up yourselves in your most holy faith, if you’re lazy, you’re gonna produce lazy people. If you’re a soul winner, you can produce soul winners. It’s whatever you are. So build up yourself, you don’t worry about a ministry, you are the ministry. You build yourself the way God wants you to be and God will use you wherever he needs to use you.

But the thing is, the key is, is you. And it doesn’t matter if you’re here and if you get moved to Timbuktu or whatever you are, you can reproduce there. And you go someplace out, you can reproduce this, whatever you are. You build yourself and then whatever you are, you reproduce, whatever. So anyway, I hope you all have enjoyed your little… Lecture 10. Look up here. This hand representing you and me and the wall of representing sin. The Bible says all of us have sinned.

And so the wages of sin to pay for sin is eternal separation from God in hell. But God loves us and wants us to go to heaven. And to go to heaven we have to be perfect. Now the question is this. How many does God love? All of us. So if he wants any of us to go to heaven, he would have to want to be a man. all of us to go to heaven because grace demands he must love us all.

If it’s not grace then he can’t be favored. It has to be for everybody or it can’t be for anybody. And so the Bible says we cannot pay for our sins except by death so we have no hope. There is no other way that take care of the problem. We have to die. So God says you cannot earn your way to heaven. Now this hand represents Jesus Christ is the Lord God in the flesh. He came into the world because He loves us, hates our sin because our sin separates us from God.

So Jesus tries, you had no sin, didn’t have to die. So He took some of the sins of some of the people and you’ve got to guess which one it is. Isn’t that wonderful? Surprise, you weren’t there, it didn’t mean you. I’m lying to you. Does that be terrible? Well, unless it was a narrow account. Christ took all the sin of all the people, paid for it on the cross and came back from the dead. He says, going to all the world and preached the gospel, this good news to everybody, because God so loved the world.

And so Jesus Christ, he died on that cross, paid for our sins, came back from the dead. So God gave His only begotten Son that, whosoever, believe it. You believe it. He gives you as a free gift everlasting life. And when you believe it, God says you can know that you’re going to heaven. And that’s the best news in all the world. Let’s pray, shall we? The His bow nice clothes, no one looking around. If you have never trusted Christ as your savior, I wish you would do so, because God loves you.

And He wants you to have you, he wants you to go to heaven. And if you’re watching by internet, why not right now, right where you are? If you’ve never trusted Christ as Savior, why don’t you just say in your own mind, Lord, I know I’m a sinner, I believe Christ died, paid for my sin, and then I’m gonna trust him right now as my Savior. And he said, if you’ll trust him right now, he’ll never believe it to me, have everlasting life.

If you believe it now, God gives you eternal life right now. And if it’s eternal life, it lasts forever. If it lasts forever and he’ll never cast you out, never lose you, then friend, where would you go when you die? You get to go to heaven. That’s the best news in all the world. And right on the screen, it says, yes, I’ll trust Christ as my Savior. If you’ll trust the Lord, then let us know. We’d appreciate it. Thank you, Father, so much for all you’ve done for giving us that free gift of everlasting life.

We ask your blessings upon these meetings and pray you will be done in Christ’s name we pray. Amen. Are you a new listener to Bible Eye? Do you enjoy the teachings of Dr. Arnold?
